Things Are Looking Up!

space2009lgFew things inspire more wonder than the sight of a clear night sky, with its moon, stars, planets, meteor showers, and more.

This week, from April 2 through 5, sky watchers old and new will have the opportunity to come together around the globe for 100 Hours of Astronomy, a worldwide event featuring four days of astronomy-related activities.

100 Hours of Astronomy is the cornerstone event of the International Year of Astronomy 2009, a project that seeks to create greater awareness of astronomy and appreciation of the night sky.

In addition to hundreds of events planned at planetariums, museums, schools, and amateur clubs around the world, the IYA will also feature 24-hour Webcast, allowing visitors to take a live look through some of the most powerful telescopes on Earth.
