Contest Winners Set Sail

Twenty five years ago, when a record 21-inch snowfall put a freeze on Marianne and Joseph Trovato's wedding day plans in February, 1983, the Bensalem, Pennsylvania, couple had no idea that their nightmare would one day result in a once-in-a-lifetime cruise to the Caribbean.

The Trovatos were the grand prize winners of the Farmers’ Almanac Worst Wedding Weather Contest. As the winners, they were awarded a 7-night cruise a aboard a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, complete with vow renewals.

Joe and Marianne just returned from their trip and shared with us some photos and appreciation for a “spectacular” trip. Here is a firsthand account from Marianne about their amazing cruise:

cruisewedding1b “The ship, Adventure of the Seas, was a sight to behold. We soaked in the sun around the ornate pools and relaxed in the hot tubs while sipping exotic drinks. It was so much fun trying miniature golf, in-line skating, rock wall climbing, or just lounging on the deck marveling at the sparkling colors of the Caribbean. The entertaining lounges, majestic theater performances, ice show, or promenade fair would end each day.

Our offshore excursions were the best way to see the islands. We learned so much history, saw breathtaking sights, snorkeled in the clear waters, and shopped for souvenirs.

Marianne and Joseph Trovato Our Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony was truly the highlight of our cruise, and it was more than we anticipated. This Romantic ceremony took place on board in a lovely chapel complete with stained glass window and soft lighting. I received a bouquet of white roses, and Joe had a white rose boutonniere.

The Royal Caribbean Wedding Planner who officiated wrote a very moving service. Afterwards, we had a champagne toast and chocolate covered strawberries. We had met two really gracious couples who shared our dinner table each night, and they attended our ceremony and toasted us as well.

Joe and I could never imagine in our wildest dreams such a remarkable celebration as the one we had with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and that the Farmers’ Almanac made it all possible.”

Congratulations again Joe and Marianne and happy 25th wedding anniversary.
