New or Used Cars?

Few purchases are as based on emotion as purchasing an automobile.
Consumers tend to use their heart instead of their head when it comes
to the four wheels that get them where they need to go. Appearance,
speed and prestige can oftentimes take precedence over practicality.
But consumers should remain practical and patient when shopping for a
car.

New car pros
- New cars have the advantage of coming with a factory warranty, which
means any mechanical problems with the car during a specific starting
point will be repaired at no cost.
- Because lenders take on less risk with a new car, interest rates are
typically lower than for used cars.
- New cars have no wear and tear. There's always a chance used cars
can have something go wrong right away.

Used car pros
- Even used cars less than a year old can cost considerably less than
new cars. It's estimated that a new car loses as much as 25 percent of
its value as soon as it's driven off the lot.
- If you are knowledgeable about automotives or know someone who is,
buying a quality used car can be much easier. Make sure to have the
car inspected by someone you trust.

Tips
- Be patient and don't jump at the first car you see.
Consider bank repossession sales and auctions.
- Make sure to have the car inspected by a knowledgeable automobile
authority before purchase.
- Most experts consider a low-mileage used car the best combination
for purchasers.
