Snow, Ice, Sleet …it’s all happening AS PREDICTED in the Farmers’ Almanac!
Is it snowing in your neck of the woods? If you haven’t checked our predictions recently, maybe you should. From page 117 of the 2008 Farmers’ Almanac:
Zone 1 Northeast States
December 12th-15th Another snowstorm, with significant accumulations as far south as Maryland, Virginia, then fair, cold weather .
Today’s snow may not go as far south as Maryland and VA, however, it is hitting many northern sections of the Mid-Atlantic states, and this Saturday more snow is on the way! Yes, I must admit, all of us at the Farmers’ Almanac are smiling!
We also accurately forewarned people the North Central States of some heavy snow for December 4-7th and possible wet snow/rain/ice for the 8th -11th.
People who follow the Farmers’ Almanac forecasts say they are 80-85% accurate.

Farmers' Almanac Long Range Weather
February 8th - February 11th
- Northeast U.S.
Wet snow mixed with rain Mid-Atlantic north through New England; slushy accumulations of 4+" possible.
- Midwest/Great Lakes U.S.
Accumulating snows Kentucky, Ohio, then clearing. Fair elsewhere.
- Southeast U.S.
Wet snow Tennessee, western North Carolina; wintry mix northern Mississippi, Alabama. Elsewhere, rain, then clearing.
- North Central U.S.
Drier, much colder.
- South Central U.S.
Snow parts of Arkansas, then clearing, cold. Clear, much colder elsewhere.
- Northwest U.S.
Drier, but colder.
- Southwest U.S.
Drier, but noticeably colder.

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
