This has been a big week. It started with an inauguration and ends with January 23rd being National Pie Day. A few years ago we asked Americans to vote for their favorite dessert. We took the most popular choices - chocolate cake, cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, ice cream and apple pie. Readers voted through the mail and we had an electronic ballot as well. Garnishing 47% of the votes, the winner was the Apple Pie.
We then took it one step further and searched for the very best apple pie recipe. So, in honor of National Pie Day, here are the winning top three apple pie recipes. Trust me they are all mmm, mmm good!

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
