Did Snowstorms Win Again? – Results of Valentine Poll

Last week, we asked readers to vote for their favorite Valentine’s Day weather. We wondered which of these weather conditions you were most hoping for:

A huge snowstorm
– giving you reason to stay inside by the fireplace and cuddle with your sweetie and/or play in the snow with the kids

A warm sunny day – so you can enjoy outdoor activities like taking a stroll in the park

A windy day – possibly allowing that someone special to sweep you off your feet

A wet, rainy day – so you can be serenaded with the relaxing pitter-patter of raindrops on the roof

In our recent favorite weather storms poll, snowstorms won by a landslide with over 60% of the vote. But how did snowstorms fare for Valentine’s Day? Check out the favorite Valentine’s weather poll results:

52% – A warm sunny day
41% – A huge snowstorm
5% – A wet, rainy day
1% – A windy day

Surprisingly, as you can see, many of you were indeed hoping to get snowed in with your sweetheart, but the votes weren’t enough to beat all of the winter weary folks wishing for an early spring. Warm is the official winner for Valentine’s Day.

Regardless of what the actual weather conditions were in your region of the country on February 14, we hope your Valentine’s Day was L-O-V-E-ly!

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
