25 Random Things

 A recent  trend on Facebook is the sharing of 25 Random Things about yourself. This gets shared with 25 others until we cover the world. So, here are “things” about my life. You don’t have to share your list …..unless you want to.
 
Pete’s 25 random things:
 
1. Love living in the state of Maine. It is a bit remote, but remote is a good thing.
2. I scored a -20 on a mechanical aptitude test.
3. I am grateful to Keith and Chris who are my go to guys when changing a light bulb and everything else..
4. Proud to be a Philom. Only two of us in the world. Definition is on our website.
5. By the age of 7 I knew I’d be working on the almanac somehow.
6. Deal maker was when my Dad pointed out that no editor ever died before the age of 86.
7. I cook at a shelter the first Monday each month and the guests are  engaging folks.
8.  Favorite (non almanac) book – Tuesdays With Morrie.
9. Favorite summer activity -  mountain climbing.
10. Favorite winter activity – ice fishing.
11. Created a game called “Folf”. It is now referred to as disc golf. But, I started the craze many years ago.
12. I get heckled about weather by grumpy old men at the coffee shop each morning. 
13. No # 13, I am superstitious.
14. Buy a new SUV every 2 years – I don’t want my car to die (see #2).
15. Live for Halloween.  Hand out 2000 Giant sized candy bars to 500+ kids..
16. I save all my change during the year to pay for the candy and it takes every penny.
17. I have always needed and got 4 hours of sleep. I am built for it..
18. My second live TV interview was with Oprah Winfrey on a Baltimore station. Haven’t seen her since. Where did she go?
19. I have been on over 3,000 TV shows during my career but my favorite is Farmers’ Almanac Television.,
20. Favorite interview – David Bloom on Today Show concerning  our  Best/ Worst Weather Cities.
21. Greatest weather moment-  Skies cleared at an outdoor wedding once I arrived and only started raining after I left
22. Still believe that Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake should be America’s favorite dessert.
23. Spend my free time “fluffing up” my  almanac displays at area stores.
24. Love answering e-mails. Respond same day to all.
25. My greatest wish – that everyone in North America would buy a Farmers’ Almanac and realize that our cover is orange.
