8 Reasons to Love Spring

Spring is here and in many areas the weather is cooperating. Here are some reasons why we love spring:

1. Greening of the lawns

2. Flowers, new buds, and leaves on the trees

3. Ice cream shops open

4. Baseball

5. Warm but not hot weather

6. Renewed reason to go outside

7. Fresh fruit seasons starts

8. Gardening and landscaping can start (again)

Some friends and I were discussing the winters of spring and were trying to name them. Can anyone out there tell me if I am right? 1. dogwood, 2. red bud,3. locust, 4. blackberry

Reasons to love spring…
Jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, jacks, bikes, Easter, Crocus’,tulips, daffodils, Tubby’s Ice Cream, fishing, and baseball….

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
