If you live in the country, you know how loud the creatures that live outside of your house can be. From crickets to birds to even deer that have this screeching noise, the great outdoors can be a noisy place.
The past few nights it’s been warm here so the windows have been opened. It’s funny as I’ve woken up in the middle of the night and heard nothing – not a peep not a noise. Yet this morning, right before the sun rose, one bird seemed to be singing to me “time to get up.”
The creatures are stirring and rightly so. April’s temperatures have been quite warm (as predicted by Farmers’ Almanac) yet I know they won’t last. There’s something very welcoming about sounds of nature although at times they can interrupt my sleep.
The bears are awake too. Not that they make a lot of noise but they do command a lot of attention. And the rooster next door seems to be talking non-stop. What kind of creatures have you been seeing or hearing in your backyard? Ever wonder what the birds are saying? Have the frogs been serenading you at night? Share your experiences here.
Welcome back nature – it’s spring again in the country.

Sandi Duncan is the Managing Editor of the Farmers' Almanac.

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
