well its already september 18th and fall is 4 days away. I think its time to say "farewell" to summer. The temperatures here in the mid atlantic cant seem to get out the 70s and the nights are going well into the 40s and 50s. All we need is several more sunny days and crisp cool nights then that will trigger a wonderful light show! October just seems to bring something for everybody.. those who like winter can finally say "winter is only weeks away" and theres pumpkin patches, apple cider, cool windy days and driving on a rural road on a October evening is just wonderful. Your blog just put a smile on my face! Autumn is finally here. (almost) but my driveway is covered with falling leaves and the avalanche of acorns dumping in my yard. Isnt the northeast supposed to have a much better and earlier than averge fall foliage season? because thats what i heard. My dogwoods are turning red and some of my maples are ready to turn red. Im seeing signs of fall

living in the peidmont of virginia i know all about spectacular light shows in the autumn. The blue ridge mountains (and the parkway is just beautiful in the fall) have plenty of those fall activities- apple picking, looking at the foliage, corn mazes in october, pumpkin patches and of course the fall festival. I dont know if where you are is seeing any fall colors but we arent quite yet. I cant believe it will soon be frosting and well be wearing jackets in just a few weeks! I love autumn so much. The chilly breezes, cool crisp air, the colors, jackets, pumpkins, acorns, apples and halloween. My kids still like to jump in those leaf piles and it just astounds me to say that all of that is only weeks away. Enjoy these fall days while you can because if I think about how fast this summer has gone by, thats how much time we have left until winter. We'll be seeing christmas trees and snow sooner than we all think
