Here in WI, just when we think winter has ended (what spring?), we get a cold blast. Just this week we had a low of 45 degrees. That's a big change from last year's warm spring. We're expecting '80s this week with chances of t-storms. Going from winter to summer is not unusual; having lived here all of my life, I'll never get used to winter (including the extremes of pre-winter, aka "fall," and post-winter, aka "spring.") When it's nice though, it's really nice, and I enjoy experiencing the drama of all four seasons.

In southern California, it has been 100+ at least twice since late May. We received a little rain and no snow in the high deserts. The mountains received some snow. We are expecting a long, dry summer. I don't want to think about August, which is typically our hottest month.

Its been a very wet and chilly spring in central Virginia. We surely had a winter this year and it just refused to end in much of the US. Our 2013 rainfall has been significantly above normal with almost 200% of normal precipitation. As we got into May though, temperatures went up but it did stay plenty wet. Then just recently Andrea brought flooding rains. My prediction is we will have an active storm track in the eastern United States with some major heat waves in late June into July as summer comes into full swing. Even if it does dry up we've had so much rain it wouldnt make a difference! We have already been in the 90s several days this June. I do expect a hot summer but plenty of hit or miss thunderstorms in the afternoons and evenings with the very high humidity. Of course, there is no escaping the heat & humidity in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. Although it does seem springs have become non-existant. Its like we've gone from winter to summer the past several years.
