Swedish Meatballs

Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients

1 lb. groud beef

1/2 lb. ground pork

1/2 cup minced onion

3/4 cup dry bread crumbs

1 T. minced parsley

1 1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. pepper

1 T. Worcestershire sauce

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions

Combine all ingredients, except cooking oil. Shape in small balls. Brown in hot cooking oil. Remove from pan.

Gravy:

1/4 cup flour

1 tsp. paprika

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

2 cups boiling water

3/4 cup sour cream

Stir flour, paprika, salt and pepper into cooking oil in skillet; stir in water and sour cream. Add meatballs; cook for 20 minutes.

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
