Hello,
Well, if you're a fan of thunderstorms, interior Maine isn't the best place to be. We only get 10-15 per year on average, and about 95% of those occur during June, July, and August.
I was wondering, if Maine ends up having a “warm” spring do you think I might see an early T-storm season? Around when do you think the first T-storm will happen up here? (04938)
Since I only had two really good snowstorms to track and observe this winter, I find myself looking forward to T-storm season more than usual (as long as no damage occurs!) It's neat to watch a T-storm and also watch nature's reaction to it (birds acting funny before and after, etc.)
Not giving up on snow for the season yet though… there is potential towards the end of the month and early April, in spite of the very warm weather I'm currently seeing!
Thanks for any insights.

Oh man if u like thunderstorms u should live where i do. They happen ALOT our first thunderstorm was the other day it was so neat. i loved the lighting strikes off the lake. and this one was so loud it whook my house and set off my house alarm had like 50 cops here in under 2 mins. lol it was crazy i loved it. Least i no the law around here is good hahaha. But im thinkin maine dont get alot of weather like that because it's more north and cooler where u live i dunno im not wjp im maken a guess here. And ill make a wild guess on your first thunderstom of the year id say mid to late april? haha just guessing.
grandin, was it you the one who lives in michigan city? anyway, yeah maineman, maine doesn't see much as you can see. i had my first one last week, lit up the whole sky. some were pretty loud. i like thunderstorms too, just not ones that cause damage and tornadoes like we see in indiana sometimes.
indeed i do live in mich. city
We've already had a thunderstorm here. Will probably have a whole mess come next month.
I was the first one to see snow (October) and now I'll be the last to see a thunderstorm LOL.
I'll be excited when it comes though.
If this pattern continues into April then I agree grandin I could very well see one in mid-April… if it breaks down though it might get put off into May.
I have heard that this years tornado season will be a pretty active season. i don't know if this is true or not. if it is, i hope we don't see it.
I personally can't wait for thunderstorm season. Hey grandin do you think that I will I have a more early season and do you think that I will have more T-storms? (Location: Southwestern Conneticut, 60 Miles Northwest of NYC)
Well interstatelover 716 i think the spring/summer storm season will rev up in mid april and get more active going in summer. and around here there saying 2010 summer will be hot and really active thunderstorm wise. and what ever comes threw my area ends up on the eastcoast so yes i think your thunderstorm seasons will be active. im not weatherman by far but from what ive read and heard thats why im saying this.
