Saturday could get up to 78 degrees. What!? With a low of 50?
Those were my thoughts when I saw the forecast for this weekend… that would easily shatter records and also be quite unreal in early April. 78 is a July high, and 50 is a June low.
If you ask me, it's a bit TOO warm this early in the season… but it will be a great day to launch the canoe and go fishing for the first time this year.

Right now as we speak march 31st 2010 3:41pm local time it's so nice out 77 degrees with a feel like of 80. But hella windy out winds are gusting up to 45 knots. All my raking from last week is runied now heh. ill re-rake i love to be outside on weather like this. And tomorrow it's suppose to be close to 80 im sure we will break records too. Then after friday it's suppose to be rainy and cloudy all weekend even on easter =( i wanted to hide eggs and money in the yard so my brothers kids and my kid can go hunting on easter sunday. ill give em all rain slickers hahahaha we'll see. And maineman and all the other englad states i hope it finally stoped raining on you all. Last i heard Rhode Island had 6 inches of rain. Just think if it was snow! and inch of rain is 12 inches of snow. You all would be buried completely! Come to the upper midwest half of the time we have nice weather in the summer with big time thunderstorms. you all would like it!!
2.77 inches of rain here since Sunday night. Luckily, no significant flooding in this part of the state due to a dry, unfrozen ground and low stream levels (we were in a slight drought, but this storm just erased it.)
They knocked Saturday down a bit, but still high in the low to mid 70s and low in the upper 40s… quite warm for this time of the year.
All that rain and then the warmth… could bring some early greenery for sure.
It's almost FIDDLEHEAD season.
They usually come late April but I'm sure they'll be ready any day now. Anyone else ever had fiddleheads or get them in their area?
I'm sure the asparagus garden will wake up early this year too.
81 degrees yesteray, about the same today. It's 64 right now and I'm still sitting in the pree-dawn hours! Then, 1-3″ of rain this weekend with the possiblity of strong and (isolated) severe thunderstorms with trainning echos a high likelyhood if the low closes off. I think it will, all others have done the same, the only difference is this one is just a bit farther north than the ULL's of midwinter.
today in fort wayne, we broke a record with a high of 81 degrees. tomorrows high is getting up to 81 degrees too, which would tie the record. it is so dry out that we in indiana are under a fire weather watch. that's rare.
You know what's weird, I live in southwestern CT and my high today (Saturday) will only be 75 and you live in central Maine and your high will be 78. There's gotta be something wrong with that
My high got knocked down to 71 today (currently 61). We had our first thick morning fog of the year.
I also heard peepers last night! Usually they don't come out until the end of April.
Plants are popping up or budding WAY earlier than normal… wouldn't be surprised to see maple leaves in May.
Of course, in 1976 it was in the 80s on Easter and then it snowed in May. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!
Looks above average for at least the next two weeks though.
I squished my first mosquito this year. I hope it doesnt come back to bite me tomorrow.
We have been unusually warm for this time of year for the past week. Today's high will be 83. I can't remember it being this warm this early. We have already had to mow! By mid-week next week we are suppose to be back to seasonal temps with a slow warming trend into the weekend.
Grandin do you guys have high humidity in the summer up there? It certainly isn't unusual for us to have days with a tropical feel in July and August down here! I can only stand just so much of that LOL.
I have heard of fiddlehead MaineMan, but never had the chance to try them. What are they like?
Nature is about 3 weeks ahead of normal. I'm seeing plants bloom that I've never seen bloom before the last week of April.
The maples in my yard have flowered completely. Here comes pollen season!
Fiddleheads taste like a cross between cooked spinach and asparagus. I only eat them cooked because I don't like them raw.
Interestingly, ferns are one of the few types of plants that aren't three weeks ahead…haven't seen any yet. Heard more peepers last night though!
Glad you're finally getting some warmth down south…I know it's been quite cool down there! Hopefully summer isn't too hot though…I can only imagine tropical heat/humidity!
HOWEVER…look up April/May 1976…. 80-90 degrees in the northeast easter weekend… inches of snow in May.
What a great weekend, the weather was great. I am loving this great warm weather up here in North Jersey. Hearing we will get up to temps in the 80s mid week!
Glad to hear that you're recovering from winter down in the mid-Atlantic!
Forecast for this week: early-May conditions, with possible 80 on Wednesday if the SE ridge points this way. Yesterday got as high as 77, another new record of course.
Thus far, there have been 7 new record highs set in 2010…with more likely this week.
