This past week was the 2 year anniversary of the massive EF-4 Tornado hitting Suffolk, VA. It happened on April 28th, 2008 as a mass of severe storms rolled through. These storms were rotating supercells that spawned several other tornadoes that only achieved EF-1 strength. In the end there was millions of dollars in damage, 200 injuries, and 1 death. I recall that day very well. I was sitting in on a AP Psychology class. It had been storming all day. Torwards the end of the day, I looked out the window and noticed a wall of clouds inching ever closer that were so dark they were almost black. Then the rain started and everything outside became a windy, rainy haze. You could hear the wind…It sounded like a human moan, like that of death. Then you could hear the hail hitting the window, then the power went out and the building trembled on its foundation…It was a very frightening experience…These types of tornadoes very rarely occur around here. So it was very scary to say the least!

Wow, you created great mental imagery in the end of your little paragraph! You should try writing in your free time! I am glad I have not experienced a tornado, and I think I am the only person in my family how hasn't. They say the air becomes so stuffy it is like you have asthma, the air is so electrified you can feel it in the air, and it is just still. Nothing moves unless you are hit by the tornado itself. It does not sound like fun, even though it would be pretty to see if over a field of wheat with a red barn and a silo on the horizon.
I agree with Flake… I'm an English major and I think that was a very well-written description…. I've never been anywhere near a tornado but I now have a better feeling of what it would be like to be near one!
Agreed 100 percent. ive seen a tornago many years ago in KS it was cool thankfuly no one was hurt but there something else in person.
