22 degrees last night, tying the record low

Posted By: TheMaineMan  Posted On: May 11th, 2010  Filed Under: Weather

After setting over 10 record daily highs thus far in 2010, we finally went to the other end and tied a record low! The forecast was 28, but it was 25 when I went to bed and 23 when I woke up.

Puddles froze solid, but Spring greenery appears to be ok. Hopefully my spinach plants survived… I figured they'd be fine in 28, but 22 may have been extreme for them.

Today's forecast is 59 with a low of 34 tonight.

22 DEGREES! Damn maineman that reminds me of a febuary ngiht around here. I thought for sure it would have warmed up by now up there. Seems like we been haven cool night too. In the mid to upper 40's in the night and 50's and 60's in the day.  KInda getting scared over here i DO NOT want a repeat of last summer. I'm getting excited though cause my birthday is on memorial day this year and thats when my fishing season 20 miles out in lake michigan starts and my grand ol' cook offs for sure. I hope it warms up over there maineman.

25 DEGREES last night, tying the record low ONCE AGAIN!

The good news is that these two nights helped kill off an invasive plant species that was overrunning the area. However, the leaves on some native plants, especially ferns, look kind of sickly as well.

My average low for this time of year is 38, so it's been about 15 below normal at night. In fact, compared to normals, this is the coldest it's been in quite a long time.

It WAS in the 40s for lows for a few weeks, but that stopped with this cold front. It looks like tonight will be one last cold one, followed by a return to more average/above-average lows that should let vegetation recover.

You must be getting excited about your birthday and fishing trip! Hopefully the weather cooperates!

26 degrees last night, tying the old record of 26.

This is the THIRD night in a row that we TIED the record low. What are the chances of that?

It's been colder than many of our January nights were in 2010!

Yeah, my average low for mid-May is 38, so it's been well below average. It looks like temperatures will be warming up next week like you said… lower 70s in the day and lower 40s at night, much more normal for May.  What we need is some rain…it's been very dry and plants are thirsty.

El Ninos always tend to make things dry up here.

It's too bad you didn't have this weather when it counted!
