which model is more accurate, i'm using twisterdata.com for models and both have completely different ideas about precipitation for the next 84 hours. GFS or RAM

Frankly, this is quite hard to say. It depends on where you live! Right now, the GFS and the NAM have been doing very poorly for my area. I've never heard of the RAM, but I would probably use the RAM. Has it done well for your location in the past, or has the GFS been better? I won't be able to answer you for a few weeks to get an idea which is best unless you live in the KC area. Hopefully somebody who's been paying attention may be able to help.

sorry, it's the NAM, not RAM, mistake. i've been using a site that someone gave on here called twisterdata.com and it has 3 models. GFS, NAM, and some other one. gfs and nam go out longer in prediction then other. i've only used it for a short period of time.

Hi Blizzardlord. From what I understand professional forecasters use a combination of the GFS and the NAM. Each one is a little different.  Sometimes they are in agreement and sometimes not. There are tons of forecasting models out there that are used in combination for the forecasting of different types of weather events such as events over land verses events over water like hurricanes. With hurricanes, for instance, there are 5 or more models that are used to determine possible tracks and land strikes.
