Hello everyone…I am trying to start a garden, but I don't know what is best to plant in July.  We are in the piedmont of North Carolina.  Thank you for all your help!

    Hi kmozeley,

You may want to check with a local garden store but you may still have enough time to sneak certain varieties of tomato into your initial crop. Ask around, though — other gardeners in your area may be able to help you steer clear of crops that won't do well during summer in NC.

I'm late in replying, but to help you plan your garden next year, contact the local North Carolina Agriculture Extension Service agent for your county.  They should be listed in the state governtment section of the local phone book.  It is very likely that they will have printed handouts to help guide you with local gardening.
