The 2 pictures below are pictures i took at the beach last night The first picture is the storm rolling in and the second pictures as at the heart of the storm. Lots of lighting it was awsome. And note the second picture was taken at 5pm and it was pitch black out thats how bad it got here last night.
P.S. the third map is the storm that blew in. But in the map it's a line of severe storms when they blew in around 5 something last night it was a strong bow echo. i and many other spotted funnel clouds and a few torandoes touched down from what i hear. The weather service from norman, OK will be out here tomorrow to see if there was strong ground rotaten. and the wave at the beach were 6 to 7 feet tall not BIG waves but something to see. The barsges out in Lake michigan were holted during the strom while the coast guard choppers went out there to collect some people that got held up in the storm.. Hope you all like the photos. Dan
That's an incredible picture of the two lightning bolts… nice timing because I heard those only stay in the sky for a split second… so nice job getting that.
I've never seen a storm make the sky too dark during the day so that must have been a sight to see… no pun intended.
Nah im not offened im not like fatherfrost. i dont take things to heart and haha ya the second picture is cool my son johnny took that picture. he stood there for like 15 mins in the rain just to get the right shot and he took a very good picture. and the one withthe dunes and storm rolling in over the lake was taken by me. someone told me once that lake michigan looked like a ocean and reminded him of home he was from boston at the casino. what do u think man? u agree or nah?? That's an amazing set of photos, the lightning must've been really fun to see, though it isn't safe to be outside on a beach during a thunderstorm. (I would do it anyway) And that's a neat beach, I feel like that is the place I have to go visit next year. Where is that dune? Great photos!
haha ya we shouldnt have been out there but me and him are huge weather freaks and ever storm we take pictures but this set came out really good. and thought id share some with you all. and the beach is called mount baldy in indiana dunes in the town of michigan city, in and ya it's a beautiful beach on a clear day u have a good view of chicago the skyline at night is so neat. I hope you come visit one day we get alot of tourists in the summer.

Dan I must say that your son has talent with a camera. And haha yeah I like to be outside when the weather is interesting too… I'm known for being outside in the winter even when it's snowing really hard or windy. One day it was so windy that snow devils were forming on the frozen pond and what did I do…I put my coat on and went to go for a closer look, lol.
I'm a little more conscious when it comes to lightning… I actually knew a kid on my high school cross country team who was hit by lightning… he survived initially but had heart problems for the next few years and then died from the heart problems. He was only 19 or 20 years old, and he was a nice person too. The chances are low but they are there… just be careful.
Just wondering Dan since you're from the midwest… have you ever seen a tornado with your own eyes? I certainly never have but figure you have a much better chance.
Im sorry about your friend u knew from school dude. And ya hahaha sounds like something id do. the put on my coat and go out in the cold to see soemthing cool. And to answer your question about the tornado yes ive seen 4 in my life.2 from a distance and 2 really close up. It's something you never forget and mother nature when she flexs her muscles it's really cool. Youd like a tornado in real life maineman it's a weather guru's dream. And ya i no it wasnt smart to stand in the middle of a thunderstorm i should have lead johnny into the car i wasnt thinking straight i was just stoked to see such a wicked storm. Next time he came take pics with the window down in the car. And thank you for the comp on him. he is a very good kid and talented me and his mom are very proud of him..
