To Fatherfrost: Duse how can u give up on winter? It's june 27th! winter is far away. you have warm winters because u live in a part of the country that has nuke warm winters u been there for awhile you should be use to it. No use to be mean about it to the blog or people on here. if you truely want a hardcore winter move where im at i live in one of the most extreme snow belts in the world. it's a proven fact no lie. You will like it here we got all 4 seasons. And i do agree with you i like fall and winter too. But im not gonan throw in the towel on june 27th dude. Gotta relax take it day to dat dont worrie about fall and winter till sept.
Dan

That is crazy heat. I've never seen it get above 95 degrees here, although the state record is 105 degrees set back in the 1970s.
I used to cook in a restaurant and one August day the power went out, so all of the fans shut down. The grill was propane though so it stayed hot and you wouldn't believe how fast that kitchen heated up. We had a thermometer that only went as high as 120… the mercury soared up to that point so I know it was well over 120 degrees. Humid too with all of the dishwater running. Thankfully the power came back on soon.
I'm much more tolerant when it comes to extreme cold. The funny thing is that my fingers and toes freeze easily, but the rest of my body is resistant to cold. So as long as I'm wearing wool socks and good gloves I'm all set in the winter. Last year wasn't too cold but the year before it went below 0 regularly and bottomed out at -25 F that sure was a cold night… I remember stepping on the wooden deck and it sounded like it was going to explode. I've never seen a more beautiful night sky than the one that night though… the colder it is the brighter the night sky is one thing I've observed over the years. My town's record is -30 but it gets colder in the dips of the land. My dad lives about 20 miles away and he has seen -40 F, and I have seen -33 F. The state record is -50 F set in 2009 but that's way up north, it is always colder up there.
I agree too… let's not make any premature assumptions about winter. It isn't even July yet, and a lot can change.
Our average winter here, which you obviously know nothing about is an average high of 49 degrees with an average low in the 30's. 10-12 inches of snow per season depending on precipitation patterns and a bad habit of getting struck by ice storms.
That is nothing close to nuke warm…maybe compared to where MaineMan is from but for lowland VA standards thats true winter.
Hey dude dont get snappy with me. i been tryignt o help you and speak good about you. and 49 in the day on a winter day is nike warm to me buddy.. my daily highs are in the 20's and in the lower teens at night for my winters. 49 is nuke warm to me. so if yer gonna eb a a s s to me than when u say u are gonna leave and throw a fit than do it i wont try to keep u around no more. And maine man thats crazy to stay om a kicthen that hot dude i would have wnet outside in the rain or something lol. and damn dude -50 i havent seen temps like that since my army days way up in canada one of the finest places i was at. and if u never see anything over 95 oh man u should have been with me i been to places that youd die in of heat it was pretty hot places i been to and cold too. and im glad the power came on too dude where u worked awhile ago.. i went fishing this morning and caught me sum good catch if u were close id say bring the beer and id feed you ha. goodtimes

I'm terribly sorry. I did not mean to give the impression of being an @$$.
I have a terrible migraine so please bare with me.
It just bothers me when people talk about weather here like they live here and experience it every day.
Yes, your locality is much colder than mine. But for VA, winter here is what winter is like unless your close to or in NoVa or the mountains.
And I did say I was leaving. Not completely though. I'm for the most part gone. That doesn't mean I wont pop a forecast from time to time or drop by to chime in on things.
it's ok sorry i was being an a$$ as well. when im mad i say dumb things if u can read em my grammer is crappy too cause i type so fast. But honestly you are truely a good person just have passion for weather and it's seasons. And soemtimes it gets the best of all of us. And you should stay but u can do what you want. Once again sorry i got all snappy on you.
