It seems like we have been in Heat advisory or Heat warning for over a weak now, the temperatures are barely above average (90 degrees) but we have heat indecies forecast to be up to 115 today, which hasn't happened in years. It has never been this humid when have lived in Kansas. The only other time the NWS said you were endangering your life by going outside was when we had our blizzard warning in affect.
* TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO SOAR INTO THE MIDDLE 90S BOTH TODAY AND FRIDAY AFTERNOON...ALONG WITH VERY HUMID CONDITIONS. THIS COMBINATION OF HEAT AND OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY WILL PRODUCE DANGEROUS AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 110 AND 115 DEGREES. * THESE EXTREME CONDITIONS WILL BE CONDUCIVE TO MANY HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES...SUCH AS HEAT STROKE. PROLONGED OUTDOOR EXPOSURE TO THESE CONDITIONS COULD BECOME POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING.
