Although I predict a cool autumn for the northern part of the country in general, I think we get a significant warm period from the last week of September until mid-October and possibly even late October. I wouldn't be surprised if October ends up warmer-than-average for the northeast, north central, and great lakes. However, with September and November both going well below average, I think autumn is cool overall.
Here in Eastern Kentucky temps. has cooled down some They are forecasting a 52 degree night Friday !!
Theyre forecasting a low in the 50s friday night for us too! I REALLY hope it happens that would feel GREAT to wake up to.
Oh, recall the actual definition of an Indian Summer:
“When temperatures soar abnormally high, usually into the 80's after the first surge of cool air has occured”.
Thats the definition around here anyways. lol. But that is typically how it is defined.
i think the indian summer will be short lived this year. were on a break right now till sunday for the warm weather but from sunday till md sept it will be hot again then by or at mid summer summer will be gone for the year. and i no this is REALLY EARLY to talk about this but i heard that summer 2011 will be very cool and wet for much of the country. i dunno how that will hold up it's only aug 2011

The cooler weather will arrive here by this Weekend. Lows in the middle to upper 60s, and highs in the middle to upper 80s.

I believe there will be an indian summer starting in late september, but it may be slightly shorter of a summer, since it has been really hot this summer and the heat started as early as march in the mid-atlantic over here, but overall the summer will be over shortly within 28 days. Seattle,WA where you're from look to me like the snowfall will be slightly above average, and temps slightly below avg.
Same for southeast virginia over here this week rickster!
I wish cool weather to all. Litteraly, that way we can get outside and do what we usually do. For me…its ride, and work on bicycles.
