My bicycles. All 11 of them.

Hey forum, what's up? Most of y'all know me from the “Weather” half of the forums. I usually don't venture out of that realm honestly, but I feel that I should make one of my favorite hobbies known. A gentleman named “Grandin” had made a comment about one of my bikes. Feeling oh so flattered, I desided to show off what little bit of a collection I have. A buddy of mine has a mind blowing collection of muscle bikes..and bikes in general, which my bikes don't hold a candle too. But, here they are…

Here we have my 2004 or so Haro V-1 mountain bike. This is my EVERYTHING bike. I upgraded the wheels to Specialized Hardrock rims, and Avid Juicy BB-7 model disk brakes. Its a BEAST. Fast as crap in my opinion.

This is my 2001 or so Mongoose Styleist-Pro. I got it from my uncle, who didn't want it anymore. This is the only true stunt bike I have. It feels like a tank when you ride it becuase its so heavy Tongue out. Only upgrades to it at the rear brake lines, stem, handle bars (from an old Schwinn Predator), and handle bar grips.

This is my seemingly rare Turantula BMX bike. I have never seen another one like it. I got it becuase its a 24 inch. My aunt paid 5 bucks for it at a yard sale. Only upgrade to it is the seat post, from a Mongoose Gravity Games bike.

Here is my 1987 Skyway 280-TA. Its modified just a little bit. The 280-TA model was said to only be in production for about 2 or three years. I seen the frame, handlebars, fork, and some Skyway pads go for 300 bucks on eBay a while back. Good times.

This one is my Huffy West Coast Chopper bicycle. It doesn't really suit the collection, BUT I got it because it was odd. Found it on Craigslist for 45 bucks. It rides like a DREAM.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h9/rick_AFC/2010-05-12015544.jpg

This one is my Schwinn Stingray chopper. Y'all probably remember seeing these at Wal-Mart for like..200 bucks. I only paid 60 for it, and there isn't a single thing wrong with it.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h9/rick_AFC/2010-05-04183219.jpg

This one is a TRUE classic. The 1968 Schwinn Stingray Fastback. Needs a tube for the rear tire though CrySorry for the blurriness.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h9/rick_AFC/Stingray.jpg

This one is a rather modified Huffy PorkChopper bike. The only thing that is stock on this thing is the seatpost and forks!

This is my good ole' 1968 Columbia Playboy. This thing is very stout, and cruises easy.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h9/rick_AFC/25419_377877047414_553267414_3874535_3031406_n.jpg

This is my Bratz bike. Wal-Mart sold these bikes for 100 bucks back in 2005 I think. This bike was bought by my grandpa shortly befor he died. I told him I wanted the bike…but I only had 60 bucks. He asked me how much I needed to get it. I told him about 40 bucks. He then grabbed his wallet, handing me 40 bucks cash. He then told me “Go get that bike, and bring it home. I want to see it.” If it wasn't for my grandpa, I wouldn't know some of the stuff about bikes that I know today. This bike stays inside in the guest bedroom 24/7. I RARELY take it outside. This bike is his memorial, from me. May you rest in peace paw-paw. I love you.

Last but not least, this is my 1953 Columbia cruiser. Its a blast to ride. A bit odd as well…but still fun to roll out, and be seen on.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h9/rick_AFC/IMG_20100823_234310.jpg

And there you have it. My collection of bicycles. I am STILL looking to make it grow, but not untill I have a job. Thanks for lookin. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

That dude looks like my son heh no lie dude cept john has black hair and he is 15 years old. that triped me out for a sec. and both them bikes are sic dude. The one in the back of Paul i think his name is. I like alot and Paul's bike is cool too, And ya before i read your mirror sentance i was looking at the checkerd pattern i noticed it missing. And the mirrors on ebay if they go 50 a piece that isnt too bad ya know kinda pricey sorta but id put out the bank if i seen a picture of the mirrior and thought it was worth it.  and ya i seen his tats nice ones. his dad does good art work . if i took off my shirt i got tons of tats along with my tat sleeves most of my art work is OE Silcian pride. and the tat sleeves are siclian tribal words and signs and a prayer my dad use tell me before i went to bed at night. and i say to to john everynight too. the siclian tat pride sleeves are only done to full bloods. like a family thing ya know when john is 18 he will get his sleeves before he goes into the army. And thats awsome dude about meeting paul man he seems like a cool person just as long as he is honest and not a liar and loyal he'd be a good friend till the end son. And thats cool im glad his old man is good to you. never wanna dig the drama dude. and coo to his stepmom.

    Dan

For sure dude. His dad has alot of artwork too. His legs, check, back, arms, and all is covered.I've thought about getting a Tattoo..but I don't think I want to.

Paul is questionable at times. He seems to stretch the truth at times honestly. But I've become used to it. Sometimes I correct him, sometimes I don't. I don't wanna make him mad you know.

    What is this “OE Silcian”?

  2. Grandin says:

no art work on my legs. just on my chest arms  and back neck and soon im gonna get my wifes name right below my adams apple on my thoart.. And once the tat is on there dude it stays put so make sure you really want it..

And if paul lies at times or stretchs the truth at times than he wouldnt make a very good friend ya know what i mean. cuz when it really counted and he told u something youd be stumped on if it's true or not. id never lie to you man and john doesnt lie he is loyal and would have yer back he can fight pretty good but he lets others push em around and talk smack cuz he doesnt like drama he fights when needed just like me. and if u piss that dude off tell em to back it up. anger is over rated dude. he lies to u alot when he does corrct em and if he wants to whine an etc tell em to grow some balls and stop stretchin  the truth than or lying. u no what i mean id have yer back for sure too. And OE siclian is words and numbers they used in the 18th century in sicily.

    Dan

  3. The Rickster says:

Thats neat about the Sicily thing. No joke.

I'm used to Paul's antics. I usually do correct him when need-be. I might go along with a thing or two but if it gets out of hand then thats it. He came across a late 90s Mongoose BMX bike. Hes trying to make some money, so he asked me to post it up on Craigslist. He said that he's going to split the profit with me 50/50. I said that that is uncalled for, becuase the bike is his you know.

He knows a guy that needs some bikes doctored on, so he and I are gonna take a look at them this Sunday (Hopefully), in an attempt to make a little money.

I sold my big black bike. The one that your son likes with the tank. Bike man and his son, Christian, were all over it. I asked 40 bucks and they jumped on it. I spent 20 already on gas…now I got another 20 left. Oh well. Got new tires put on my Mazda, now it rides like a dream. Next up is a 460 dollar clutch job. Once the clutch is in and my funds are up to par, I'm gonna replace the windsheild and the driver's window regulator. It'll roll the window down, but not up. One of my LED/Foglights are busted. It still works but the glass is busted out. I'm gonna replace that after a few other things are taken care of.

I love my Mazda. I just wish I could take care of it like Russell would. I'm trying, and thats probably the reason why russ doesn't mind helping me. We're splitting the clutch bill down the middle, but I'm paying him back for it though. I don't care…as long as it gets done.

  4. Grandin says:

Hell ya the siclian pride tats are a must if your full blood it shows you are a proud siclian person. My wife is full blood siclian too but she doesnt hate her ink. it's only the guys that really get the tats. Faith doesnt believe in tats on a chick she says but she is a proud siclian and im proud of my baby too.

Well just dont let it get outta hand too much man about his words and if there true or not. i couldnt chill with him. i feel if your arent honest and loayl than i feel that i gotta part ways with that person. And if he wants to spilt the money with you u gotta take it man thats money you need man. And you are helping him sell the bike on craigslist etc.  But i do know where your coming from man for sure.

There ya go get that side project going man when yer not working allwaus good to stay busy. Thats why im back into bikes again and plus u got me into big time too i thank you for that. And i hope u make a little bit of coin my friend.

All man dont tell john that he'd be heart broken lol.. Ill find a bike like you had and restore it and give it to em. and thats cool u made a 20 dollar profit on it. and hell ya that bank will go fast 20 of it is gone allready. My truck alone takes 110 dollars to fill son —– holds a beast worths of gas but my truck isnt a gas hog though. takes awhile to get rid of 110 bucks worth of gas haha. and thats tight dude im glad you got your tires for your car. and that clutch money will come in no time dude just gotta save up and hopely this month or early next you will get yer clutch fixed up. than ill come down and ill let u drive my mustang and ill drive your mazda haha.. and dang dude seems like your replacen the whole car haha well u got that job now and funds are coming inn all ya gotta do is save up and u will get all your parts for your car son.

And i know u love your car dude and u do take care of your mazda just falling behind a bit on your part list funds were dry now u got your bank it's all gravy now buster. There ya go your uncle is a good man for sure im glad he is helping you. and if u wanna pay em back thats up to you dude.  and it will get done for sure i know u are good like that..

    Dan

  5. The Rickster says:

I'm gonna pay him back. It might take me a bit, but I told him he'll get paid up.

I got some new front tires on the Mazda, and the alignment and balance is done. My Mazda rides like a dream now. So smooth, and it corners better too. I'm not one for spinning out but I do get a little happy in the corners. My Mazda doesn't have much body roll to it. Even Russell won't deny having fun with the car when he had it.

But yea dude, I sold the West Coast Choppers bike. Bike man gave me 40 for it because his son wanted it. That's just 5 below what I paid for it. I cut the price because the tank was scratched up and crap. When I took it to them, his son was like a kid in a candy store and so was James to an extent. Both love it. James said “While the bike isn't what I usually deal with, its a very nice, and unusual bike. Besides…Christian has been on my butt about for weeks.” So yeah dude, we all win. The money went to gas in the car, so I wasn't able to put it up. I'm selling my LARGE Stingray. Not the one with the stick shifter. I'm talking about the big chopper one I have. One of my mom's friends wants to get it for her nephew. I'm gonna let it go for 55 bucks, even though I paid 60 cash. The reason fr the drop in price is becuase there is a bumper type deal that screws into the frame, to keep the forks from hitting up against the frame. Well, during my birthday party, it broke off. Part of The screw is still up in the hole that the bumper bolts up to.

I finally got my Schwinn Varsity working last night. Got the new chain on it, and I got the gears SOMEWHAT working. It is sooooo fast dude. I've got new brake levers for it that Bike man gave me.

I also did some work to my Skyway, and my Pork Chopper (The big red chopper with the ape hangers). I switched out the wheels, putting the mags on Clifford, and the spoked alloy wheels on the Skyway. Here are the results…

  6. Grandin says:

Hell ya you are a good guy u pay your dets.

LOL i bet you do doughnut in a parking lot. Nah lol im playing dude. And thats a good thing u dont peel out or hook them cornors really fast etc. you will have your tires longer and the motor wont knock faster. But it is allways good to have fun sometimes ya know man.

I told JOhn about that chopper you sold he was bummed out. But im glad that the other kid got it though cause i know he wanted it as well. But im gonna buy john a bike like u just sold withthe tank on it. Give it to em as soon as i buy it and restock it. and thats cool your gonna sell your other bike to yer friends nephew u are a good person u give discounts too but if someone other then friends wants one of your bikes gotta make a profit son. say you got a bike for 60 u sell it for 80 maybe 85 ya know something like that. And hahaha i bet bike man's son was jumping up and down saying yes. i hope hehtakes care of that bike.. Its a really nice bike u sold em man..

Them pics are nice dude i like the bikes alot. the 3rd though says it was removed so i only seen 2 but the bike im digging is the second pic the bike withthe hangovers. I like how u swapped the wheels looks tight man. The top pic the red bike withthe spoke wheels looks just like a bike i owned when i was a kid. u got some really nice bikes man.. And im getting my paint tomorrow so i can FINALLY start on my side WW 2 look alike jag bike. when i get it done ill post a few pics for sure man. John said that bike with the hangovers look sic. lol he really wants to be yer friend so he can come over and drool on your bikes..

If he was here, he could hang anytime when I'm off work and he has no school. Those bikes like the one I sold are relativly easy to come by. But don't get me wrong, they are uncommon to an extent. They came in three colors. Black (like I the one I had), chrome, and red. I really wanted the chrome one but I settled for black. It looked alright. I miss it, but its out of the way now Cool Makes room for more!

I can;t wait to see how your Jag comes out man. Its gonna look nasty. The “top” picture is of my Skyway. Made in 1987 I beleive. Its a cool bike. It's VERY VERY light. I don't like that rear wheel on there though. I'm gonna take it off eventually, and a put my Alex brand Double Walled rim back on. The rim was given to me by Mike (old hardcore bikeing buddy). It came off of his old Mongoose. The rim is made out of 6061 Aluminum, and is double walled like I had mentioned. That rim is disgustingly tough. I love it. Its not too light, but I don't care. It holds up to the abuse I throw at it. That makes up for weight.

I wouldnt mind making a profit. It would be nice but I don't know if I could bring myself to do it (ask more then I paid for it). I suppose thats the honest side of me dude.

There some cool bikes u sold than man. and ya for sure after school and when your off work you all could chill. Hahaha hell ya least you got some room for new ones you will like. and if u miss it you shouldnt have sold it kept it for personl collection..

Hell ya my jag will look pimp dude im gonna ride it around town once it's all done and see if i get some looks on it. If you seen the wizard of OZ movie in the start of the movie where the old lady rides that schwinn bike withthe basket what kinda schwinn is it? my friend said it was a jag but i dunno i think different thought id ask you to see if you knew.

and ya skyways are light and messed up if u give it the lights abuse the rims bend and stuff like that. but the way you are talking sounds like you gonna hook that bike up and yea looks like a 80's style kinda bike good eye 'bike man' :)

And yea you are a soft guy i think youd feel bad asking full price with a profit for you. But thats how u do business son thats how u get extra gas in the car or some light stuff for your mazda. or food i can go on. but least u make some bank on it still. in my business i give family deep discounts for my services we offer on my business. But a everyday joe all about the bank. this isnt my first rodeo haha.

    Dan

  9. The Rickster says:

It won't be your last either dude. Take everyday and own it, becuase you'll never know when it'll be your last. Just as fast as you came into this world, you could be taken, just like I.

I sold my Schwinn Stingray Chopper for 50 bucks. Sold it to my mom's freind, becuase she wanted it for her grandson. Shes all stoked about it. I sold it for 50. While I still have the bike, she'll be picked it up sometime this week I beleive. I'll miss that bike but oh man, will it make room in my shop for more toys!

I'm sure you'll get looks on that Jag dude. No joke. I found out that the chains for the skip-tooth style bikes are called “Brick chains”, due to their design. If you seen a chain, you'd know why it was called a “Brick chain”. Bike man offered me a female's skip tooth bike. Looks like it was made no later then the 40's. I beleive it to be a Schwinn. It has no head-tage, but the rivets are insterted into the bike in the location that schwinn used. The seat post, and seat is what gives it's age away to me. Know how the majority of seat posts are straight? This one is straight, untill it gets to the top where the seat mounts up. Then it basically is bent, to be flat. These posts were used befor World War 2 for the most part. I beleive this bike to possibly date back to the 20s at the earliest and early 40s at the lateist. I'll get a photo of it next time im at his house. It needs ALOT of work though due to it's age, but done right, it can be a beauty.

I'll have to see what bike the old girl is ridein' in the Oz. I've only seen the movie once or twice in my 21 years of walking this earth. I've never paid attention. I tried to find some photos on Google of her and the bike. While I did find photos, they wern't big enough for me to see exactly what the bike, but I have come to this conclusion. The bike is not a Jag. The bike she's riding might be a Schwinn, but its no Jag. That frame design is way to early. I'de have to say that the bike is dated to the 40s or so. Maybe earlier. Maybe later. I'm not to sure, but I am about 98% sure its not a Jag. The chain guard is wrong, and the frame design is wrong. A forum I just found (Litteraly, just found as I type this) Said the movie was made in 1939, so the bike is a 1939 model or earlier. Some folks on the forum are speculated it could be a “Elgin”, “Iver Johnson”, or a “Schwinn”. Either way, I haven't found a photo that is large enough to say exactly what it is, but I know it isn't a Jag. The bike is way to old.

  10. Grandin says:

I agree with that 100 percent. I take my life and things in my life serious i enjoy it to the exterems. You only live once.

Heck ya ill get many looks. Looks from people like dang dude thats a sic bike!  and ill say ill sell it for 20 grand lol if i give someone a insane price no one will wanna buy it. Cause im falling for this jag BIG time. i Painted it yesterday evening. Im gonna re-paint it again let it dry and put on my gloss coat to make it look shiney and finish it up and post a picture for you. Andi just googled a brick chain heck ya man them chains are beast rick! Heck ya man if u got that bike off bike man you should  trick it out for sure. Maybe your girl will ride that bike too? heck me i hope so or ill write you a check and buy it for my wife :) and thats awsome that the seat is straight not to many of that around ya know. And cool for sure post a picture of the bike when u are abck at the house man. and i believe it man that that bike can be a beauty!

It's cool man me and Andy had a bet going on and i told em i knew a guy that really knew his bikes. But when u find out what bike she is riding just let me know for sure bro.

    Dan

That I will. I'll try and search for a picture of the same style/look of bicycle she's riding, and give you the link to it. I can almost bet that it is a Schwinn. Aside of Columbia who is oldest bike company, Schwinn is the second. I wouldn't be surprised if it WAS a Columbia! But I don't think it is.

Britney is actually begining to ride a little bit. I'm very proud of her.

Sorry to cut things short, but I gotta go to bed. 6 AM comes fast.

Hey man, whats up? I've been going balls out this weekend bro, with my 3 days off in a flippin' row. Did a good bit of biking today. I got my Mazda's new clutch installed this past Friday. I also changed the oil. Maverick helped me wash, and wax it as well. We also cleaned it out. My Mazda looks nice. Now if I didn't live in front of a dirtroad….it would look even nicer.

Nothing new has changed with the bikes.

Here is a photo of my cleaned up Mazda. Its not so clean now though. I live in front of a dirt road darn it.

Below that is my Varsity. Thats it current look. I'll probably keep it like that.

    Dan

  15. The Rickster says:

That bike is actually a 70s model I do beleive. That was Prime Time for the Varsity line.

My mazda is still running good. I can't complain.

I'm selling one of the biggest investents of my life. Aside of my bikes, and car, my Traxxas E-Maxx is the biggest. I paid 400 cash brand new last year. It drove me in the ground but It was worth every penny of it. 4 Wheel drive, two motors, two 7.2 volt, 6 cell batteries to run the darn thing. Drive train is sealed, and all the electronics are waterproof. It has a two speed gear box upgrade on it. Its a blast too drive. I don't really want to sell it…I don't really need to sell it. I'm not hurting for money, so yeah. Its just something to get a little money. If I don't sell it, then oh well. If I do, then oh well. It ain't nothing but a thing. But..deep down, I don't wanna see it go. But…if the right offer comes along then cool beans.

I'm glad to hear that your doing well bro. Get out and clean your vehicals. When your car/truck looks good, then you look good!

Your mazda looks fly dude never forget that.

The Traxxas E-Maxx sounds really pimp man and the way u talk about it on here just a sec ago you sound like u really like it and dont wanna sell it? So if u arent hurtting for money and dont wanna sell it. Then why are u selling it? JW.Nah man if u got a deep respect for it i think you should hold on to it for sure son. dont sell something just to have money people seel stuff to get money they need or to make room. and it doesnt seem like you wanna sell it for money or to make room in your shop.

And hell ya im gonna get out very soon and detail my cars and truck and probs my wifes suv. i washed my car and truck yesterday and was gonna wax it but i had to  go to work for a few and i forget but im gonna wax em today probs after work. and i agree a clean detailed car or truck makes the owner look good for sure. good quote

Hey man, long time no talk. I've been busy lately with work and all. Thats why I have been M.I.A.

I ended up getting a Planet Audio amp, as a trade for my E-Maxx. It pushes 1100 watts max. It goes down to one ohm stable, which is a feature I wanted. I have it wired to two ohms right now. At 14.4 volts, it pushes 600 watts when tuned properly into two ohms, but my subwoofers are 300 max…so I have my amp turned way down Wink Here is a photo of it.

Sounds like a plan man. Can't wait to see the befor and after shots of the bike. I still need to get an updated shot of my Skyway with the chrome wheels on it. I like the wheels. The rear hub is cool. Its blue, and has a “ACS” sticker (or something simular) on the hub. The front hub looks odd on the bike. You'd have to see it to see what I am talking about.

Glad to hear the faimly is doing good man. I'm with your son. I'm hoping for a good winter, but it looks like this one might be a bust. But nature is odd down here so far.

That amp is nice. I honestly wish it was a little more flashy though. Some more lighting would be nice.

Heck ya bro it does sound like a plan. I took several shots of the before jag. And when the whole thing is complete i will for sure get some after shots. I think you will be impressed.. least i hope so but i know u are a honest person for sure.. And when u get updated pics of your skyway for sure post em on here i wanna see em for sure. And the bike sounds pimp as u describe it..

Well winter will start off there cold and somewhat snowy depends on where u live in NC or SC but in the end of december it will faze into a mild dry pattern with a few cold shots. And some ice/rain/ sometimes snow.. just a heads up man. And ya John Knows winters around here are weird too sometimes it's a cold snowy winter sometimes high ridges rule the winter and blacks alot of good snowstorms and winds off the lake that cause the lake effects. So far high ridge is rulen this fall been  really mild and dry so far. Im hearing thats all gonna change really soon. But i dont believe it till i see it. And my friend is like why do u all believe in that stuff mother nature will do what she wants. And im like i believe in it so much cause i got a mad passion for weather.  And my friend has no room to talk trust me. If i asked em if he wanted to see hell. Alls he has to do is stick his head in a bon fire and he would see it. he'd do it the dumb dip-stick lol.. And how is your g/f and mom and uncle doing man?? And ya my fam is allways doing good i make sure of it..

And for the lights but some halloween or christmas string lights And string em around the amp or in yer car etc and wire it to your car battery and wire in a flop switch so u can turn it on or off. I did that once when i got my very first car at 16..
