HEY guys your opinion on FA's predictionSealed

Honestly, I'm just not sure what to believe!

  2. The Rickster says:

I think the FA will be right. I like to watch folklore alot too. So far, signs point to a rough winter.

I think it's the “very cold” that's throwing me off. If this pans out it will be so completely opposite of everything I have read elsewhere. Of course I will be hoping for that;)

  4. The Rickster says:

At the moment, anything can happen. Plus that volcano is erupting in Indonesia, so there's no telling how THAT will effect the climate of the world.

  5. catsdabest says:

It would be great to get what the Fa are saying. Last year for my area which is Kentucky We got exactly what they said we would get last year Laughing

  6. TheMaineMan says:

I HOPE they're right, but right now I son't see how the western US is mild and the eastern US is cold.

It's like they just wanted to go the opposite of what everyone else is saying just in case everyone else is wrong.

  8. The Rickster says:

They are playing they'er cards and they are sticking to it.

  9. weatherman911 says:

TBH, the Farmer's almanac prediction couldnt be anymore wrong..It's just laughable that there winter forecast map is the TOTAL and COMPLETE opposite of what a La Nina would look like and what is going on right now. the east coast and southeast look to be dominated by a ridge

You remind me of Phil. :D

La Nina is there, very strong now, and showing itself BUT many, myself included do not think it will be the main driver this go-around.

Then tell me what will drive the pattern!!  I've asked you the same question for the past 2 weeks and you havent respondedYellYellYell

  15. weather411 says:

The FA is going very bold with this forecast like I have already stated. There is absolutely no way the east and southeast are going to see sustained cold… ESPECIALLY with a La Nina driving the pattern! Also the west and northwest will be COLD not MILD. I'm sorry guys but for those of you in the southeast please take this with a grain of salt, I've seen some strange things happen though so we'll see.

Excuse my philosophicals, but I have answered. You only have to expand your mind to see a larger spectrum to see the answer. ;) I believe that a progressive pattern with no persistent blocking will be driving the pattern along with a variable NAO/AO. Last winter, as soon as the El Nino gave way, the El Nino pattern practically vanished in the blink of an eye. This winter, with the La Nina (IMO) very close to maxing out in region 3, I expect it to max out in regions 3.4 and 4 soon. Once we see weakening of the La Nina by early winter (If it maxes out soon enough) I believe the pattern will start to break down. Hence my expectation of a ridge over the south but a surpressed ridge. One that will strengthen and weaken throughout the winter back and forth. Now, I had enough of your poking and prodding. This isn't the Salem Witch Trials. Thank you.

Well honestly, I'll side with nature befor I side with computers. So far, the signs around here point to a cold winter. We'll see whats up.

I think it's gonna be above average snowfall for southeast virginia.
