I don't know what in the world is going on!? A few days ago yeah there was a leaf here and a leaf there that were changing color. Now the trees are changing at like…hyper-speed? And it's not even a drought induced change. The trees look healthier than ever and theyre turning orange, yellow, and red!!?? This is so strange! But exciting at the same time. lol. There's a tree on Main St. that is almost completely yellow! I can see it shine brightly from my backyard. And there are many others that are rushing into their fall colors. Very odd for SE Va.
Thoughts?
I'll have pics up sometime this weekend I hope. My mom said on the backroads going to Surry, VA that many trees are changing. I suppose it's strange because its only September 2nd. The colours don't usually get going this good for another 2-3 weeks!

Our birch tree always has some yellow leaves on it, but that's the only fall color I've seen. If I were you, I would be worried if the leaves were changing this early, it means the leaves will fall off sooner and there will be a longer gap between when the leaves fall and the snow starts to come. (I don't know about you, but I HATE that time of year. It is so depressing!) And I think the later the leaves last on the trees, the snowier your winter will be from a natural signs standpoint.
Wjp, how can you say only 70-90 inches???
I would do almost anything for that much snow!
here in northeast wisconsin there has been very little change in leaf color.lots of rain this summer.funny how the southeast is changing already.(longer the leaves stay on the snowier it's supposed to be?)
90 inches is only 7 something feet throughout the whole winter. That's not that much
Further up north where some of my cousins live, it's not uncommon for them to have 6-8 feet of snow on the ground all at the same time!
Thats one sign I think its just foolish and whacky. Last year the leaves fell off early and it started snowing in mid December, I mean accumulating snows which is early, big snow in late January, then it snowed all February into the first week of March. lol. That along with the wooly worms have very little accuracy IMO.
I hope you're right then, I went to a place called Powell Gardens and a lot of the trees just outside of it were tinged with yellow and a few were turning orange.
