My 2010-2011 Winter “Wishcast”

Posted By: PlowmanOhio81  Posted On: Sep 27th, 2010  Filed Under: Weather

I'm no meteorologist, and I don't study the weather to the significant extent as some of you. But this is a little map I've compiled based on different forecasts I've seen and what I think may happen:

The Predominant Storm Systems will be the Low's (Clippers) orginating from Canada travelling through the Upper Great Lakes and Lower Great Lakes, with a few Panhandle Hooks all swooping up through the Lower Great Lakes into the Northeast. Lake Effect Snow area's will recieve Above Average Snowfall as well, due to the warm waters and the unconstant temperatures that I expect to see through the winter. There will also be Low's originating in the Lower Midwest that will track eastward to the Carolina's leaving them wet for a good portion of the winter to include possibly 1 Ice Storm or Snow event of 4″+.

Northeast – Slightly Below Average Temperatures with Slightly Above Average Snowfall

Upper Great Lakes – Below Average Temperatures with Above Average Snowfall

Lower Great Lakes / OV – Average Temperatures with Slightly Above Average Snowfall and 1-2 Ice Storms

Upper Midwest – Well Below Average Temperatures with Above Average Snowfall

Lower Midwest – Average Temperatures with Average Snowfall

Pacific Northwest – Slightly Below Average Temperatures with Slightly Above Average Snowfall

West Coast – Average Temperatures with Average Precip/Above Average Snowfall in Mountains

Southwest – Above Average Temperatures with Slightly Below Average Precip

South Central – Slightly Above Average Temperatures with Average Snowfall/Precip

Southeast – Slightly Above Average Temperatures with Slightly Above Average Snowfall/Precip

East Coast – Average to Slightly Above Average Temperatures with Average Snowfall and Above Average Precip with possibly 1 Storm

I also believe the Northern Rockies will be a hot spot for Many Heavy Snowfalls with Above Average Snowfall with any systems that may travel down the Jetstream. Overall, Southern areas of the US will experience short cold outbreaks for no more than a few days at a time. But I believe the “Seesaw” grounds will be in Northern Kentucky/extreme Southern Ohio of where the freezing temperatures will constantly bounce between 30 and 40 degree's for most of the winter. I also feel that there will be a typical January Thaw of 2-3 weeks with temperatures going extreme highs (50's maybe 60's) for a week or so, but then the winter will resume along it's normal predicted course. Hope you guys and gals enjoyed my “wishcast”… :-D LOL

Uh yeah!!! That's why it's my “Wishcast”. I did keep it moderate though, within somewhat reasons. My real wish is to actually have 2 or 3 blizzards in the Lower GL and OV. Usually we get a bunch of snow, but the wind never comes til afterwards and it only classifies then as a “ground blizzard”. :-( Oh well… sounds like the next 30yrs are gonna be good snowy ones. LOL

I'm alright with this “wishcast”. God times man.
