We don't seem to have wooly's here in S.C.
I dont think they pop up in warm climates? has to be coolish for the wooly worm to come out. i could be wrong though
Dan
Here in IL they seem to show up when is somewhat starts to cool down and harvest of corn/beans gets underway. So dont give up yet theres still plenty of time for these guys to show up.
where I live at the woolly bear has predicted a very very cold winter Idk if it different in other regions of the country. But I know that nw ohio in for a cold and snowy winter.
what part of Ohio are you. I am in the Akron area. Hopefully you are near me so that would mean I am in fora cold and snowy winter also. All I can do is cross my fingers and pray to god it happens for me
I live in Indianapolis, IN and have seen 2 all white wooly worms and one that was caramel colored Don't know what that means. There were fuzzy just like any other wooly worm, just different colored. Anyone know if they have any meaning to the winter weather? My neighbor said a friend of hers seen a all black one. Have not seen any banded ones at all. Hoping for a snowy winter and lots of it like everyone else!
The wooly worm popped up in my area today i seen one at a jobsite and it predicted a cold and very snowy winter season. Thats what the park ranger said though for my area. so we will see the wooly worm is very depenable.

Indy/ohio areas I think we are all in for the same style of winter. As for predictions anyone can do it. Black=Cold/severe, Light Colors=Mild, Dark Brown=Mild to Cold White=Snowy(especially when seen with Black, if no Blacks are present I would lean more toward mild, but it can vary) The thinkness of the coats can weigh in on the level of severity etc. But its hard to tell when you seen them on the highway. So its an over all rule of thumb that can give you a general idea.
i saw one and the head had a little rust of orange guess it has to do with the little mildness in jan but the only ed spot
I live in southern Illinois around the Mt.Vernon area and today I saw two that were 60% black and I saw one white one.
My friend found an all black one the other day when he was cleaning the leaves around the outside of his house…
North Central Ohio is lookin good I think in the Mansfield area. I'm still waiting for —- Goddards winter forecast to come out… should be real soon.
