JB for the first time…like EVER forecast a white Christmas for the entire state of VA…
I'm sorry but I'm VERY, VERY doubtful…
I wouldn't be if we were going to see snow out of the storm later this weekend but it's gonna be rain and thunderstorms…
It figures I would miss the one storm thats most likely going to be the only big one between now and March (the next cold month)…
So being as we're not getting snow out of this one it doesn't appear likely that I will see a white Christmas…Matter of fact I've never seen a White Christmas…the closest thing has been an Ice Storm and 13″ of snow the day AFTER christmas..
Would weather411, okie, arkansasfan, or anyone else like to chime in?
I mean the only other chance of snow for the rest of the month here is the 18-19th…If it doesn't snow with that potential event then the snowy part of the “cold and snowy” forecast for this month will have busted horrifically.

im sorry about how u might not be seeing snow from this system. i hope before your winter turns warm that u do see a snowstorm, i would hate if winter turned out with like no snow. maybe that 18th 19th storm goes farther east and u get what u want
what r u now thinking on this possible snowstorm in the nxt few days, do u think that fort wayne has a chance for a big one here?
maybe because indiana may be effected by this 12-14 storm while going east. do you think there will be plenty of snow from it here in southeastern virginia.
First of all, I don't listen to JB, just three days ago he was talking about how volcanic eruptions this year may be having an impact on the winter this year, which I find preposterous (too soon for effects and the volcanos were just too weak to cause a huge impact for us).
I've never been on board for this to be a very snow period for us southerners, cold yes, but not snowy, but I wouldn't get too worked up about something ten days out, the GFS (and most models) have been sucking quite a bit even five days out.
I will say this, I think that between the 21-25, we will see a system that will bring snow to someone between Oklahoma/Arkansas and Virginia, it may be a dusting, but we will see.
As for not having a White Christmas, that sucks. I had my first last year with 4 inches of snow on Christmas Eve! I was tracking that storm 16 days out and Christmas Eve I was a nervous wreck. I had given up that we were going to see any snow (model consensus was for 6 inches) and then we ended up in the pivet point and boom!
Was your ice and snow in 2000? We had 3.5 inches of ice on Christmas day that year.
Arkansasdolfan, I think Joe Bastardi was talking about the eruptions that happened last year in Alaska and other northern lattitudes effecting our winter this year. The eruptions this year wont be effected for a while as there is a lag and Joe knows that.
JB also has Atlanta, Ga under a possibility for a White Christmas.
