Here’s a link to a blog post by meteorologist Steve DiMartino. His predictions for last Winter panned out fairly well and he has some very interesting blogs.

Interesting times ahead it seems!

Ok does this play a role in for the weather in the Midwest as well?

  2. FatherFrost says:

No. He was only talking about the Atlantics water temps and how he sees a pattern of Nor’Easters coming for the east coast this fall. And he was also talking about the -NAO which has the biggest impact on the east coast as well.

awesome! i’m in SE virginia. Does this mean a snowy winter ahead for you and i in virginia? Richmond is considered in the coastal forecasts meaning you get what the coast gets right? You know what noreasters mean for the east coast lol. that means we have a lot of snowstorms to look forward in virginia because noreasters usually come for us when it’s really cold, and we usually see snow from these. Looks like we will have a bad fall and winter over our area, if te witer is based on the east coast getting many noreasters. in fact, i call our noreasters snoweasters in the late fall and winter, because we mostly only get our snowfalls from noreasters!(snoweasters are coming signifigantly this fall!) Usually, we aren’t talking about these crazy type snowstorms till winter, but like we’ve all been saying, it looks to be an early start to a bad winter!
P.S. Fatherfrost you should join our team, i want as many people as possible to join our team!

Fatima, he isnt talking about snow. Hes saying that the pattern is setting up for a lot of FALL coastals. That means a storm that comes up the coast and brings warm, rainy conditions that rapidly turn cold and windy as the storm lifts to the North. However, it could have good implications for Winter. If we see a lot of Nor’Easter this fall then it could sort of set a track for the atmosphere to “remember” so to speak.

yes i live along the New Jersey coast =)

  6. TheMaineMan says:

Unless of course the nor’easter misses you and ends up dragging warm air instead… that summed up my 2009-2010 winter (or lack thereof).

  7. Jayne1954 says:

Could this mean a  very cold and possibly snowy winter for us here in the eastern panhandle (Martinsburg) of west virginia?? Opinions appreciated please. :)

  8. FatherFrost says:

Jayne, I dont think it would have heavy implications for you. You’re too far away from the ocean. Sorry.

  9. fatima20 says:

If these storms come during the winter with our cold air, we will see plenty of snowfall, no doubts at all!
