What day would we like to make our winter update #2 and what day should we make our final winter update? Also what signs have you seen in your area so far change in tree colors, wooly worm colors, etc.?

Hey guys in southern IL here the past few weeks things have really started to pop out at me about this fall and winter. I have found 3 snakes in my two car garage, solid black wooly worms becoming more and more common, lizards coming inside, Spiders making huge webs, & Maple trees showing change in their colors.

Sonnysnow92 sounds like you’re in for a doozy!  I haven’t seen too many signs yet either.  I think that between Irene and the earthquake we have taken our minds off of any signs and focused on the situation at hand.  Now there’s another soon to be hurricane out east.  It looks like it coming straight at the US; but I know how it can curve at anytime.  Yet still scary non the less :)   As far as what date; any date is good for me.  I can’t make predictions; but I can and love to note the signs that I see.  Also Fatima, a lot of folks might not have power connected yet.  Perhaps we’ll wait till next week.  I do have power, but there are still more than 50% of folks who doesn’t have it.  Thanks.

Here it comes, the signs were not lying, the weather is already about to turn much colder in Monument, Colorado, although, I wont get to see it for a little while, being as I am here in Sapporo, Japan right now with family, very warm and humid here, and a typhoon will slam us soon.
Anyways, the forecast is calling for highs to drop into the 60s next week, with the first night time readings in the 30s a possibility…after we reach a near record high today…crazy huh?
which means that a snowstorm towards the end of September is a pretty good bet if it’s already going to get that cold this early, looking forward to it, but I am not all that surprized seeing as the trees started changing during the latter half of the middle of August, and when I left, several new trees were shifting to near peaking, so it will indeed be an early and likely harsh winter, which means a decent snow year for eastern Colorado, especially the Palmer Divide.
    That makes me happy.

In central IL the crickets have been thick & coming in the house for a couple weeks now. Moths were more numerous. Wooly worms: I have only seen a few and they have been dark brown/black, but its not a big enough sample size to make a prediction. Webs all over the ground & bushes. Leaves are changing some and falling but its due more so to the extremely dry/hot weather. This summer has been the hottest/drier in recent years, so im hoping this winters prediction will hold true. Im dreaming of something in white!
