Hello all,
I just found a wasp or hornet’s nest under my wood fence. I’m too scared to deal with it myself, so an exterminator is coming by in the next few days. I was just wondering, does anyone know of any natural way to wasp-proof the area so that future swarms don’t nest? Or is that a pipe dream?

I don’t know of any natural ways. We had a wasps’ nest under our porch. They were stinging the kids as they went in and out. What we did was to saturate the nest with an insecticide. It’s a special hornet spray that squirts in a long stream from a distance. You have to be careful with that stuff, as it can blind a person. Be sure your exterminator does this at dusk or at night when all the wasps are in the nest. Otherwise, the workers who are out of the nest while it’s being destroyed will just build another one. You have to have them all together to get rid of them for good.
If you want a natural way to try to eliminate or minimize wasps infestations try using citrus oil extract since it has a natural insecticide effect, also effective for mosquitoes, though you might need to reapply this more often than those commercially available insecticides because it evaporated with heat faster but it is all-natural so you don’t have to worry about your kids when they play anywhere near it. You can also pool it in a small pot near that area since you only need its aroma to drive those insects away. also there are actually plants that you can put in corners in small pots they say that the aroma it send off are natural insecticides as well.
