Same thing up in SW CT.
There are a few maples taking in some hues of red, but that’s really unusual. Our peek fall color doesn’t typically arrive until mid to late October most year. We went straight from summer weather to sweaters this month!
I’m starting to see some color up here, mostly the sugar maples and dogwoods. Most trees are still quite green. Our peak foliage is early to mid October. It’s getting dark out at 7:00 now. Had our first frost of the season on Saturday morning. Temperature was 35 degrees.
The only unusual thing I’ve noticed: MOSQUITOES. Normally once the thermometer starts to dip below 40, the skeeters start to go away. Well, not yet. I was working outside all weekend and I’m still all chewed up. And it hasn’t even been that rainy. Don’t think I’ve ever seen mosquitoes this bad late in the season. But they weren’t bad last summer so I can’t complain too much.
I think ,maybe, the fall of this year will not come earlier since the cyclic weather theory of far east tells us that after 23 Sept. the temperature will not decrease much.
I just noticed my choke cherry tree is loaded, I mean LOADED with those little cherry things. My peach tree gave us 13 peaches this year to, it has never produced fruit before. I hope that means you know what…………..SNOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
i think temps will decrease late next week.
