Does anyone else think that there may be early frosts ??  I hope so.  I really am over summer.  I love Fall and Winter.  I hope we do have a early winter that is snowy and long.   I would love that !!!

  1. TheMaineMan says:

    First frost: September 15

Average first frost:  first week of October

    I guess so!

No way to edit a post? Yargh.

    I meant September 17, not 15.

  3. sapporo1 says:

Already had our first frost in Monument, Colorado, so yeah, it was about 2 weeks early

  4. spellbound says:

They have Oct 17 as a average frost for my area, so maybe early.  would love a early snow !!!!   a big one !!! lol   ok looking too far ahead.

  5. fatima20 says:

wow maineman. don’t they say if an early frost comes, will you have an early snowfall?

  6. Jang Dongsoon says:

I would say carefully that the reason of early frost observation over a couple of areas may be explained by the cool inherent nature between Aug 14-Sept 22 by 60 years cycle theory with 10 seasons classification method. In Korea, before 23 Sept, the temperature was also dropped much than normal  Fall temperture but it came back again after 22. The next interval , between Fall 23 and Nov 16, there is no inherent cool energy. This is the reason why I say this fall will not be cool except very dry region.

we’ll hae to see, as things are getting cooler this weekend coming up.

  8. PlowmanOhio81 says:

GFS models right now are persistant with a good frost/freeze into the Ohio Valley and NE around the 8th of October. It could change, but the cold air is definitely working it’s way from the Arctic.

    I agee Plowman… and I certainly hope it’s right.

  10. spellbound says:

me too.  The fast the better.  I’m sick of this warm weather.  Got oil and haven’t even swiched on the heat !!!

  11. Grandin says:

  12. snowboi1 says:

Where does a temp. have to be to get a frost?

  13. snowlover says:

That was a good question Snowboi1.  I’m glad that it’s turning cooler here (VA) this weekend.  Thanks for the good answer Grandin.  :)

  14. fatima20 says:

yeah, it’s going to be around the upper 50s lower 60s i think, instead of low to mid 60s. And, it’ll be in the upper 40s and lower 50s at night from saturda night till monday night.

  15. illinoise says:

Sun finally made an appearance today, brief, and in quick shots the cloud cover has returned once again. Tonight is looking fairly mild with lows around 50 degreees. BUT, starting next week we start to see the flip flop method in effect once again, as models are spitting out highs in the mid to upper 70s:(

The coolest day this week appears to be Saturday, with a forecasted high of only 56, and a low of 39! Still, have not had our first frost and or freeze ( which is not unusual)

Tomorrow night looks to be very windy here in central Illinois, even more so further north, 25-35 mph winds with gusts to around 40-45.

  16. WinteryKate says:

37 on Saturday night. It may be coming! =D
