The interplanetary magnetic field

Posted By: wjp2011111  Posted On: Jan 7th, 2012  Filed Under: Weather

I’ve been doing obsessive research as to why the winter pattern in the NH has discontinued a correlative relationship with the thermal and kinetic budget state, and I think I might have found something in the interplanetary magnetic field general earth energy budget balance in relativity to explain the odd and unexpected pattern this winter.

I’m working on the post with details, qualitative evidence, and quantitative evidence for this.

But in hint, look at it this way:  IMF = base, AP flux (CME Geomagnetic Planetary Index as a driver).

So, it’s Sun —> Upper atmospheric impact —> change in AO/NAO oscillations —> change in global cloud cover distribution —> change in heat distribution —>  Change in the wind budget (what causes wind? ;) ) —> ENSO.

The IMF determines the AMO and PDO phases, where everytime the IMF flips north, the AMO changes phase (every 2 solar cycles), while the PDO changes everytime the IMF goes south.

ENSO is determined by the geomagnetic flux, the correlation is so good it is scary there, and to the atmospheric thermal budget.

I’ll have all this in a nice detailed post soon.  cheers :-)

(PS, no, winter is not over, it hasn’t even begun).

Hi wjp, How are you doing? I hope all is well with you and Happy New Year to ya!! Does this all mean we still have a chance for cold and snow in the panhandle of WV? My grandkids are craving some snow to play in. So what are your thoughts on this matter? Or is winter a big bust for us here. :(

  2. dynahstee says:

Hey WJP, I’m going to need u to translate that to weather for dummies….. I have no idea and no understanding of what it is ur saying….

  3. snowboi1 says:

This winters a bust.Hopefully 2012-2013 will finally be the winter were all waiting for.

  4. wjp2011111 says:

We have 3 more weeks of crap to get through before winter truly arrives

  5. snowboi1 says:

Yeah but by then winters almost over unless it stays real cold until mid-march.

  6. spellbound says:

Hi WJP !!   Hope your holidays were good.  I’ve missed ya !!   Can you give us what you believe will be happening for the rest of winter.  And winter just begun on 12/21 I think I’m not happy with this winter either, but lets not give up hope just yet.  :)

  7. wjp2011111 says:

I think we see a large storm system or series of storms at the end of JAN which will be followed by a period of cold weather in the east, with a noreaster track predominating.

And Snowboi1, the biggest storms in east coast history often occur in FEB as it is the snowiest month on average for the east coast since wavelengths allow for more “mature” phasing between the STJ and the PJ.  And I believe it was you who told me I was wrong about not putting NYC in the “heavy snow zone” and told me I was too warm.  Turns out I wasn’t warm enough, at least until FEB when it seems I should have gone colder.

  8. snowboi1 says:

Hey wjp no it wasnt me who said anythin g to u about NY as im in crappy South Carolina.lol.What do u think 2012-2013 winter will be like?

  9. snowlover says:

Hello WJP.  Missed ya!  Happy New Year to all!  Well I guess you all know that I’m “sick” about the winter thus far:)  Glad to know that there’s still hope.  Hope everyone had a pleasant holiday, and that we will see some “winter” before Spring comes.  It “felt” like snow this morning; but of course it’s rain:(  Oh well, we still have two more months of winter, and like WJP says Feb is the snow maker for the East Coast.

wish I’d read this post first… oh well.

sure wish I married that AF weather dude I dated way back when…. he could translate all this jibberish!  lmao!!!

well…. I’m making no calls or judgements… I been in the sit and wait mode long enough that I’m stuck in it.  I’ll just wait and watch.

    good luck wjp!

I am still praying for my snow to come for Maryland by the time when late january comes.

  12. KatD-Mo. says:

we had about 2 inches.  wind chill will be around 0 tonight.  the wind is biotchin’!!!!  our standard 2011-12 winter warm up is in a couple days. :D    50′s by the weekend.

with the wind blowing a bit, we did manage to get the plows some work in town.   I hope all that want it, get some of this storm.   beware its COLD.

  13. Anthonypilone01 says:

Right now, I still got a mild weather blues, since it will not be cold long enough for me here in Maryland and local weather says it’ll in some of the 40′s after this so-called cold front comes in  :(
My god, this really sucks, I want it to stay cold and the longer it stays mild, the lesser chances for snow, and that just pisses me off. Right now, I am sad and wondering will the cold and snow EVER come here in time by the end of January and February???

  14. Jayne1954 says:

Anthony on the local news tonight they said one one day in the 40′s and the rest in the 30′s. But that could all change as they have done many times so far.

  15. KatD-Mo. says:

Ok. WJP, come on back and tell us what you see now.

It was 70 degrees today (in Missouri) and we’re expecting “rain” and 30 degree temps to roll in tonight.   We broke the warmest day record, yipee (?).   I’m kinda confused now…. summer/fall/winter….  tell us WJP what does the future hold for us confused folk????

  16. The Rickster says:

I’m hoping we get some cold in here eventually. While the 60s and 70s are nice for a little while…I like my cold weather. I haven’t had the money to take a quick vacation to the mountains, so I was hoping we’d get a little something white down here. But from the looks of it, that’s a no-go. Sigh. Oh well. As I type this, it’s 64 degrees. Fail. My location is Gaston, South Carolina.

  17. spellbound says:

It’s not any better up here in Pa either.  I’m praying this warm trend breaks soon, very soon.

  18. Anthonypilone01 says:

Me, too, spellbound. I am right now, at this point, am Snowsick(miss snow a lot).

  19. wjp2011111 says:

Looks like things are finally about to improve… it’ll end up taking 5 weeks instead of the 3 weeks I predicted , but finally it appears we’re heading into a colder, snowier regime.

    +PNA is now in play
