Does anyone have and thoughts on what the spring and summer outlook will be for the united states? I believe it will be hot and very wet. but for the northwest and the rest of the westcoast will be cool and wet again..

Unfortunately, the 2012 Farmer’s Almanac is calling for a horrifically hot summer across the country, due to this winter being abnormally hot and muggy, especially in the Great Lakes. Perhaps 2012 will indeed by the year of the end of the world. I am so ready to go to Alaska or the North Pole LOL. God help us all.

I sure hope it’s not brutally hot and humid this summer. I just can’t take the humidity!! It ruins the summer for me cause its just tooooo hot and humid and I have to stay in the house till the sun starts to go down. By that time I don’t really want to go out.
Yea i agree im hearing it will be a real hot but wet summer. with a warm and wet spring. alot of severe weather. But this winter is a bust in my eyes. Alaska/Russia/Poland/Finland/etc. is getting all the cold and snow this winter season. Lower 48 has been warm and muggy. Colorado got all this snow but the temps will be in the 50′s next week so that snow will melt fast. minus the snow in the moutains i think. I’ll tune my a/c up and be ready for the hot summer 2012. Well hopefully we’ll at least get some cool weather in here before too long from now. But I agree with Dan: This winter is a bust in my eyes as well. I mean…my mom had to run the A/C today to boot. I was down at Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the weekend. According to the Weatherbug App on my Droid X2, they hit 75 degrees today during the afternoon. If that was on the beach, then how hot did it get inland? Lol. I DREAD the summer…even the Spring with a passion. And to add salt to the wound…POLLEN is already showing up. My Mazda is red, black…and yellow.
What does it look like for SW BC and the PNW?
It’s been a very mild winter, and I think we’ll see a warm spring as well. However, I think things may moderate by summer, and it won’t be as bad as many people think. The patterns should change by then.

swag. i had a beard too. i gre mine for a good cause. And i dunno i keep hearing reports. saying how it will be warm and went in the spraing and hot and wet or dry im the summer. Then im hearing how it will be cold and dry in the spring. and cool to cooler in the summer and abg on rain fall. a a year without summer that was like 3 years ago remember? in the 60′s on july 5th lol

I sure hope this summer is cooler with very little humidity. Can’t take the humidity, it ruins the summer for me.
KatD, I went to Lowes today and bought some organic seeds for our veggie garden today. Just need to get the organic soil to start them indoors. Winter is a big bust for us this year so now I am planning our veggie garden and that’s exciting to me
But I sure do that next winter will be a colder and snowier one for us.

I’m reading a lot of stuff on how the summer will be very warm. I checked some long range model runs, and they are showing the same. So hot summer ahead?

From what I understand it’s La Nina this year in the States, causing it to be warmer and wetter, at least in my area of middle Tn. I found out it is considered part of the lower mid-west by the National Weather Service, but I always thought it was part of the upper southeast.

This year, la nina conditions weren’t normal. Canada and PNw is supposed to be very cool based on normal conditions but it has been far from it.
rock solid i heard that march april and may supposed to be stormy those three month and the rest of the year its going to be rough year for everyone in the northern country.
Okay, an analogue I’m favoring is 2009. This winter has been very, very similar to 08/09. No sustained blocking, same ENSO, etc.
So at this point, I expect March to be cooler and wet, April warm and dry, and May closer to normal. There exist the possibility of a warm Summer, but I believe it will be much cooler than the past two. And wetter with the chances of an El Nino developing being pretty good.

I started some of my veggie seeds last weekend. will start a few more today. I’m sure old man winter will go out with at least one more storm, it’s his way. that being said…. I will be prepaired.
dry summer? ok, I have enough garden hoses. I’m just hoping the spring won’t be too dang wet.
Jayne, I didn’t buy organic, but I did buy heirloom varieties. for me they have the best flavor and that’s what I’m going for. should the world as we know it end…. I want to die with good tasting food in my back yard.
