Ok, we’re all above looking forward to nice cooler temps in the fall and praying for snow come winter (I KNOW I’am here in IL -> skip hop away from St Louis)
But here is my BIG question I’d like to pose to all weather forecasters using weather lore/signs from nature/science:
When is this drought going to end? When is the mid-west going to see some ACTUAL RAIN (I’m getting to the point I see some grey clouds overhead and I don’t get excited as much as I used to)
I know the jet stream is up north (hanging out in Canada sipping molasses) which got blocked by La Nina winter/spring. We have a ridge of high pressure aloft over the mid-west cooking the breadbasket to oblivion and a drought equated to the Dust Bowl. (Meterologists have dubbed it “the Ring of Fire”) and unless there are some tropical ‘disturbances’ (aka a depression) that can form and hold and not get smacked off by a possible El Nino (which may or may not occur later this year) NOAA has predicted this heat will last WAAAAY into October.
Sooo, curious, when do you all think it will end and slowly get better for us here in the Midwest?
