Hi i notice when it says South Carolina is 3 degrees below normal and people say thats cold but how can it be cold in the daytime if highs average mid-upper 50s?Isthere more to that like maybe 3    degrees below normal really means 10?Doesnt make any sense.

This map is a bit too advance for my little knowledge of meteorology.  Can someone explain to me what Virginia’s winter will look like according to this map please?  Thanks.

I’m sorry the above question was meant for the NOAA winter outlook map.

  3. Weatherforecaster103 says:

Snowboi1 what it means by 3 degrees below average . That is basically takin all the winter temperatures within the past 50 years and compare them to this year. So in reality it means some areas in South Carolina will be 10-15 degrees below average for this winter. <— That was an example.

well, for us here in virginia it seriously really sounds like a classic snowstorm winter track this year. and it just sounds like we’re getting a verrrrrrry cold and snowyyyyyyyyyyy winter! this winter and potentially it could look more like buffalo,ny down here for us virginia. If you all haven’t observed the almanac from last year and have read the forecasts starting in december 2012, it looks like many cold, snowy days ahead for many fall and winter months!

  5. snowboi1 says:

So that means were in the 10-15 degrees below average since im in myrtle beach and ive seen 3 forcasts with below average?

  6. snowboi1 says:

Oh what would 2 degrees below average mean then?

  7. fatima32 says:

i have to find out more about that, but in mid atlanitic northeast will for sure have a bad winter in most likely southeast including south carolina should even have a reasonably and fairly bad winter planned out as well
