TAKING A TRIP ACROSS US. WILL LEAVE ALABAMA DRIVE TO TACOMA WA. WILL GO SOUTHERN ROUTE THROUGH TEXAS AND SO FORTH, GO UP THROUGH CA WINE COUNTRY TO WA SPEND A FEW DAYS WITH SON”S FAMILY THEN HEAD BACK HOME. PLAN TO RETURN THROUGH THE NORTHERN ROUTE STOPPING BY YELLOW STONE THE ROCKIES. MY HUSBAND AND I KEEP DEBATING IF IT’S BETTER TO TRAVEL MID SEPT OR MID OCT? WE PLAN TO TAKE ABOUT A MONTH FOR THE ROAD TRIP. THANKS

My guess would be mid-october. That way you will hopefully see a lot of good fall foliage. Please correct me if I’m wrong, because I live in Virginia. Our leaves here usually peak in October. September here is still summer-lke with slightly cooler evenings. Enjoy and be safe!
