This is not my work. It’s some dude named Michael’s 2012/2013 winter outlook. Any comments about his outlook? ~Dan~
Weak El Nino
- Warmest waters off the South American coast
- +PNA, -NAO, -AO
- Good storm tracks- storms that rides up the East Coast would be the best case scenario
- +AMO~ blocking is more likely with a +AMO, rather than a -AMO
Eastern US
- Below average temperatures
- Above average snowfall from the Mid-Atlantic to Southeast
- Maine will possibly have above average temperatures, because of Greenland Blocking
Midwest US
- Below average temperatures
- Big lake-effect snows, because of very warm lakes
Western US
- Slightly above average temperatures
Drier then normal, for some

Sounds like a repeat of the dreaded 2009-2010 winter… eugh!
I like his outlook for the eastern U.S. this winter.

I wouldn’t mind another 2009-2010 winter. That year I had about 3 snowstorms and one morning the temperature dropped to 8 degrees.

Same here. Here in Maryland, we has our very first December blizzard, which is very rare to us because we usually do not get big snowstorms. It was a happy day and I treasured every moment cuz at the time, I should enjoy it because we might not see another snowstorm like that here in December for a long time. But NOW, they are calling for snow for us AGAIN here in the Mid Atlantic, according to the long ranged outlook here. lets hope it comes true
Grandin what does that outlook mean for my state of Missouri?
Shawn,
It means Missouri will be cold and snowy most likely. The cold will take time to get there but once the cold arrives it will stay.
Dan
That sounds awesome? Do you think there will be any blizzards or possible thundersnows? Also do you think Missouri will see below zero temps at times beit during the daytime or night?
there’s a good chance we will have moderate and strong el nino end of september through end of december things are to get very warm nothern states.
shawn,
I dont think you will get blizzards. But you will start to get some decent snows in the middle to end of december. And it’s exepcted to get rather cold in the day and nights. Below zero readings are possible but i dont think that will happen. Maybe single digits but no below zero’s
Dan
What does it mean for northern nevada
it means northern nevada will have a warm and dry winter
Dan
Gee Golly-Wow! How exciting! I like it

Dan
