We bought a home in Feb of this year and with it came a well established fig tree. We are in the No. Georgia mountains, zone 7. The fig tree has produced figs in the past for the former owner, but none ever ripened. This year we’ve seen tree covered in figs, and it is still producing. But not one has ever ripened. I had it wrapped all summer just to make sure that the figs were being eaten before ripening. Not the problem. It is on the west side of the house and gets sun all afternoon. It is within a few feet of the porch and sits in the corner of the yard that is supported by a concrete wall. I fertilized and watered that plant, babied that thing just hoping to get ripe figs. No luck at all.
I would love to hear from anyone that might have an inkling as to why the fruit doesn’t ripen. Thanks in advance!!!
