Hurricane Isaac

Let me just start off by saying I hope anyone in the path of this storm is safe right now. I know it’s predicted to cause major flooding, so please stay safe.

But, still I’m surprised I’m the first to bring this topic up. Everyone’s so occupied with winter that I guess nobody even thought of it. It’s amazing how early this forum lights up with discussions about winter, because it’s still summer, indicated by Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaac. (I insert the slash because it only turned to hurricane status recently, so I’m just trying to be as accurate as possible.) As I said before, I hope all of you along the Gulf Coast are safe right now. Any thoughts on it?

They are in Mine as well, I had taken a family vacation to florida a few years back and ended up spending it in “lock down” on th 13th floor of a hotel waiting for hurricane wilma to pass, and from my experience a hurricane is something you really have to experience to even begin to understand what they are capable of doing. my prayers do go out to every person who may be affected.

Yeah I guess you’re right; no one says too much about Hurricane’s because it’s something that’s either gonna happen or not.  No one wants a hurricane (however the rain in some areas would be welcomed).  There is nothing pretty about a hurricane (compared to snow).  My sentiments exactly like the rest on here.  I’m praying for safety and peace for those who is still in turmoil from Katrina (which today is the anniversary of that awful hurricane) I heard on tv this morning that a levy broked and this couple was in the attic because their house is flooded.  The guy said that he might have to shoot a hole in the roof in order to get out.  This is so scary and sad.  My question is why didn’t more people evacuate?  You would think that after Katrina most folks wouldn’t take the chance no matter what folks say about the new multi million protection that was built.  I think folks pay more attention to the catagory number than the fact that it was a slow, huge, storm.  Some folks are expected to get anywhere between 15 – 20 inches of rain!  Keep them all in prayer everyone please.

I think the reason people dont evacuate because they think it wont happen or they are afraid to come back in see everything they worked for gone. I personally think being alive is more important than a home. Yes it would suck to lose your home but you can rebuild that.

I’m even more concerned if the hurricane would ever hit the east coast.

Just spoke with friends in Houma, Louisiana. Raining cats and dogs and the power is out, but all safe! They and their nearest neighbors in that Parrish are waiting it out; everyone using back-up generators.
