Don’t know about birds or butterflies, but all of those special flowers that bloom just a few weeks before the first frost have been sprouting out since the end of August, theyvare pretty little things, purple petals with sort of a big yellow eye in the middle, they are tiny flowers, so they are easy to miss, but I am glad they are finally here.
Wow that must be a good sign. Where are you sapporo1? If you find out the name of the flowers, let me know.
Sapporo1, perhaps they are prarie aster or New England aster?
I’ve noticed that the male hummingbirds are now gone. Only the female remains. Usually the male leaves about 3-4 weeks before the females, so it’s about right. SOME of our trees are trying on their fall wardrobe, noticed it this morning when I was sitting on the back porch with my cuppa. Just starting. We’ve been inundated with butterflies this year, but in that past week, we’ve been noticing less and less. The moths have almost completely stopped falling at our feet at night.
My autumn joys are starting to pink up as well.
Our first real cold front is expected to come through on Saturday which will drop our daytime temps almost 20 degrees and our night times about degrees. I am so ready for this.
Lol! Pearlss, I quite agree, both with the beautuful autumn joys pinking, and being ready for autumn to arrive in all its colorful glory, and and winter follow soon after with bells on! Hope your saturday proves cold as predicted!
Oh, and thanks for the observation about male hummingbirds leaving at the start of Fall Season–most interesting! I’m going to watch our area to see what happens.
