The weather centre has been closely monitoring not only ocean temps, but also what the atmosphere is doing, and I have to say, that even though I may not always agree with the overall forecast, I still have deep respect to the amount of work and painstaking detail that is used to map out a forecast, that being said, this is what they are saying.
Although the sea surface temperatures over the Nino regions are demonstrating a well defined El Nino, the atmosphere at this point in time is rejecting the anomaly, and is apparently not ready to trasition to full on El Nino conditions, in short, we could have a fake El Nino this winter like we had a fake La Nina last year, the only analog year that they could seem to dig up is 2006-2007 .
It will certainly be very interesting to see what actually happens, and as they said on their site, if this happens again with the fake anomaly year, then all the forecasts made thus far would have been a blind shot in the dark, as at this point, if the atmosphere keeps rejecting what the ocean is saying, then it really could once again prove to be a winter that is just about anyone’ guess, and maybe none of us may be right.
Let me know what you think about that after you read their latest article, I would love to hear some feedback on your thoughts concerning that prospect.
The Weather Centre is not so sure about this El Nino now

Now I wanna go to Colorado. Lol. But anyway…when dealing with weather and mother nature, patience is key. Yeah, we all want winter to be knocking on our door steps, and covering our front yards in a beautiful blanket of snow. God Knows I’ve been waiting on that since I left California in June of 2011. Having no snow…not even a little bit of sleet…left me mad. Then this summer…argh. All that did was make me even more mad. Nature will have its way, for better or for worse. All we can do, is wait and see. Predict all we want. Hope all we want. Mother nature will have the last say.
Noon already, temperature at 46 degrees, heavy rain falling, already over an inch of rain has fallen, snow has been falling on the peaks, what a perfect September day in here in Palmer Lake, Colorado.
The element of surprise is what makes climate and weather interesting.
I love the change of seasons. summer was 110, above out norm. today…. 66. yeehaw. I’d like an other drop like that for winter… and precip! puulllleeeezzzzeeeee…. make busy clouds!
Love those big changes
Feels looooovely tonight. Windows open, A/C in off mode…lovely cool fall drizzle this morning (it felt like a nice light fall rain this morning and on top of a lovely walk, I spotted a martin as well! Took video of it and everything – was the icing on my day…)
65.7 degrees as I type this. 60 degree dew point. Its cooler outside right now than it is in the house. I love it!
Nice Rickster, I know, isn’t the cooler weather just great, as I sit here right now at midnight, it is about 46 degrees, so I do think with the radiational cooling and very light wind, it may drop into the 30s again tonight.
Winter is coming guys, not long now. XD
The brief warm spell that we had the last couple of days is now over… highs today in the 60s, and low 40s predicted tonight. Tomorrow night is forecast at 38. With a waning moon the chance for frost is unlikely, but I think I’ll cover up what’s left of my garden just to be safe. Still got a lot of tomatoes turning red.
