Unconfirmed reports of SNOW In Monument!!

I have heard some unconfirmed reports from a few people that graupel (grainy snowflakes) mixed in with the rain in Monument, Co today, though I am not sure how credible those reports are, however I do not completely doubt it, since temperatures for most of the day have meansered in the 40s to low 50s, and combined with strong convection in the afternoon that produced some heavy thunderstorms, as well as being that I witnessed snow mixing with rain along the mountains, I can’t rule out that possibility that it may have been a rain/snow mix under the heavier downdrafts in those thunderstorms.

That being said, the writing is on the wall, subtle little tastes of impending winter are being experienced in many locales in the Rockies and in the upper Midwest, even some flurries forecast for the UP of Michigan, it is coming guys, so don’t give up hope.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. Northern Minnesota was in the upper 20′s this morning, so snow could’ve easily fallen if precipitation would’ve came through. Wednesday down here in Olive Branch (Northwest MS) is supposed to be 47 degrees, first low below 50 ever since that April blizzard in the Interior NE. There are supposed to be frosts and freezes all around the country this time next month, and around that time it also says “stormy” so that could easily produce a snowstorm. I just have a feeling this winter will be a big one. One thing I’ve been wishing for though, is for blizzard to come through Memphis, but that only happens about once every 25 years, so we’ll see, lol. I hope everyone gets a good winter this year, at least to make up for last winter.

finally had a few residents confirm that they indeed saw some snowflakes mixing in with the rain today, so it is official, we had the first flakes of the year, hopefully when the ridge in the west breaks down, we will see the first significant snow of the year, speaking of which, parts of our mountain towns recieved their first measurable snow of the year this morning.

Thats wild Sapporo. Hopefully it is indeed a sign of things to come for the US.

Me too, because I am having my doubts, this El Nino is about to be overtaken by very cool waters underneath it, which raises questions regarding if the El Nino will even still be here when winter officially arrives, and with record low sea ice extent in the arctic, that too raises many questions about the AO and NAO, not to mention that the atmosphere is going haywire, like it can’t even make up it’s mind.
this could end up being a really wild winter for everyone, with possibly huge temperature swings throughout the country, as far as snowfall goes, it’s really anyone’s guess who will see the snowiest conditions, but for some reason, my gut wants to bet on the upper Midwest and southern Canada getting the worst of the cold and snow this winter.
just a guess, I think the Northeast will get plenty of snow, and so will the Rockies and Mid Atlantic, but, we could all go through some wild temp variations, with warm periods followed abruptly by periods of extreme cold, and right back again, I could see that happening this year.

Well the weather channel said it was snow so I guess that qualifies as confirmed?
