Hey, everyone!!

My family has been gardening for years. My fondest memories are of helping my grandma and uncle in their gardens with all of my cousins.

I’m living on my own now, finally on a plot of land big enough to garden more than a tomato plant or two. I also have four hens (according to a friend of mine, one Leghorn and three mutts) and one rooster (I’m not sure what kind).

I have recently decided to commit myself to gardening. I started a compost bin a week ago.

I was just wondering if anyone in my area (right outside of Columbia) had any good tips for me. I am very interested in planting kale, tomatoes, and cucumbers, perhaps onions or some other leafy green veggies.

Should I be planting anything now?

Start from seeds or purchase plants?
