I was looking at a site with all records down in South Carolina from the 50s and theres a lot of cold. Why doesnt this part of the Us get cold like that decade anymore or could it return one day?Lots of lows in the teens and 20s then and highs in the 30s more.Could it ever return?

One of the biggest factors on east coast winters is a multidecadal oscillation called the NAO which simply put is a cooling and warming of Atlantic oceanic temperatures that effect weather patterns.  The NAO alternates between colder and warmer cycles approximately every 25-40 years.  It is currently in its “warmer” cycle and many believe it will start changing to its colder phase near the end of this decade.  Then there are probably dozens of other factors which may or may not include man made global warming, solar cycles, volcanic cycles etc.

So to answer you question, yes colder temps will almost certainly return and even if man made global warming is a problem these natural cycles will almost certainly trump what man has done at least for a while.
