Interesting! I cant wait til we get final forecasts. But hopefully everything turns out with below average temps and above average snowfall for the northeast.
Hope that comes to fruition here in Colorado, although there is a glimmer of hope for it, as precipitation has been trending slightly above average for September, with some big storms that have hit this month, we will just have to see if it is a long term trend though, temps have been above normal though, as I have still yet to see the first frost around here.
by the way, most interestingly enough, this winter is going to be quite the tug-of-war between a negative PDO, which correlates nicely with a colder than average western half of the country, and a positive AMO, which can lead to Greenland blocking (-NAO)with colder than normal conditions across the eastern half of the country, it will be interesting to see which anomaly wins out in the end, it is hard to say at this point, and since El Nino is nearly dead, and the SOI is continuing to refuse to even acknowledge it’s very existence, I have a feeling that this winter could be very erratic.
If you want my best guess, given the information I have been observing over the last month or so, it does seem to me that it could potentially be one of those years where occasionally, the entire nation goes into the deep freeze if we have both -AO, NAO and PDO all feeding off of each other, so perhaps we could all get several bouts of frigid air masses, as far as precip goes, it’s still really up in the air as to who will see the most of it this year, as again, El Nino may have very little influence on this winter’s precipitation patterns, we sure will find out in the next month or two though, as the LRC begins to show it’s winter face.
I can handle that. looks like i am on the line of slightly and well above average on the snow fall in pa. would rather be in well above lol. havent seen a good winter like that in a long time. lived in illinois when they had all that snow in 93.

sucks for me on the precip but i dont believe it seeing how i live in a lake effect snow belt zone. the temps i do believe will crash hard real soon.
