Freezing and otherwise below normal temperatures expected From Colorado into much of the Midwest next week

A strong push of cold air will nosedive southward out of Canada around the middle of next week, which looks to bring hard freezes, cold air and even snow chances from Colorado to the upper Midwest, this cold air may stick around for a little while this time, there is even a slight chance of snow as far south as Chicago, that is not confirmed yet, but stay tuned, as the air moving southward will be  very cold, so stay tuned to find out who will see the best of the cold, as well as big frosts, freezes and even snow.
By the way, this cold air is forecasted to spill into the Mid Atlantic and Northeast as well.

    i live 55 miles west of chicago in northwest indiana. And that is true around here next fridat the high is suppose to be only 49 with a low in the 30′s im game i been waiting for this since last winter. Alaska got all the cold and snow last year. Now east of the mississippi river it will be very cold and snowy ‘pending what state u are in’ I live off lake michigan her waters are warm im seeing signs of a bad winter and have been since mid august. If anyone see’s a Carellia plow out east or in chicago or in indiana or michigan etc. thats my company wave and the driver will tug his horn.

    This shot may wrap around NNE… my weather all next week looks warmer than average, and rainy/unsettled.

  3. sapporo1 says:

    Grandin, I think you meants to say 55 miles southeast of Chicago, right? Indiana is southeast of Illinois.

    Today has been rainy and chilly in North MS. The temperature briefly hit 70, but for the most part it’s been in the 60′s. Tomorrow the HIGH is supposed to only be 62, which is rare for the first of October, and it’s the first time that’s happened in a while. After tuesday, temps will heat up to the lower 80′s but by the end of the week they’ll be back in the 70′s. As for snow in the Midwest, On October 8th, there is supposed to be snow in the Denver and Colorado Springs area, and this weekend, lows in Chicago will be in the mid-30′s, so that’s cold enough to at least see a few flakes.

  5. sapporo1 says:

    Buddy, I just read NOAA’s local forecast, and the hazardous weather outlook is saying that the latest computer models are taking the storm in Montana farther south into Colorado, bringing a chance for poosibly strong storms into the area Wednesday evening, enough cold air will settle in overnight Wednesday night that there is a chance of accumulating snow to occur in the higher elevations of the I-25 corridor, that definitely means us, as I am west of I-25 and very high up, 7300 feet to be exact, so if it is cold enough along lower areas along I-25, then we stand a big shot at accumulating snow here.
    The Weather Channel is also suggesting that we also could spend next weekend in the low to upper 40s, with lows in the 20s, how is that for unusually cold forcearly October?

  6. Grandin says:

    Southeast is Michigan. But your right it should be 55 miles east of chicago**

    Places on this map are ones that could see snowfall:

  8. sapporo1 says:

    hmmm, there’s no link to that map Buddy, wonder if there is an issue with it

  9. Grandin says:

    i wouldnt rely on accuweather buddy. but your right snowfall is possible in a very small area north

  10. sapporo1 says:

    Yeah, Accuweather has alot of flaws in their system of forecasts, especially since they tend to only rely on GFS models, which are not reliable at all, because they exaggerate far too often, as well as disagree with all other models too often, and most of the time are way off, I tend to be alot more confident when I see the ECMWF models, they are usually pretty close in regards to what they say vs what acyually happens.

  11. sapporo1 says:

    Not sure if the snow will happen on Wednesday here though, as there just may not be quite enough moisture left by the time it gets here, but we will definitely get the cold, with lows dropping below freezing.
    That being said, there are a few models bringing a much stronger storm into Colorado on Saturday, bringing with it even colder air and a much better chance at at least light accumulating snows, neither of the storms seem terribly powerful right now, though that crazy GFS is showing 18+ inches of snow in a northeasternmost section of Minnesota, which I don’t buy for a second, as that would be near record snow there, the other model showing as much as 4-6″ is a bit more believable, at least, that’s my take on it.

  12. TheMaineMan says:

    GFS fantasy land would put us all in an ice age.

  13. Delstein says:

    I’m jealous of Minnesota. We won’t be seeing accumulations like that for another 2 to 2.5 months in central OH if we’re lucky. And it’s even early for them. They got the first snow a few weeks ago, and now on top of that they get a freak early snow event? I just hope this is a prelude of things to come.

  14. buddy17474 says:

    @delstein
    I know right? I bet Duluth is gonna see accumulation AGAIN. And their average first accumulation isn’t even til the end of October. I haven’t even seen snow accumulation since December 2011.
    @snowboi
    Well, that’s going a little too far. All I want to see is a couple sub-zero temps a year and about 50 inches of snow a year. But, me and you don’t live in a climate like that.

  15. snowboi1 says:

    Hey Buddy when i say Ice Age i mean the little ice age that i hear may be coming.

  16. TheMaineMan says:

    As I thought, the “cold snap” is going to kind of wrap around NNE. Our mild temperatures will go down to “average” by early next week, but not really any colder than that for the time being. May be awhile before first freeze in the NE.

    Not a big deal.. winter is long enough from November through April, October should stay a good project month. :)
