Where are you from, spellbound? I just saw my frst Wooly Worm yesterday here in NW Indiana. He was very fat, about 2 in. long, with a black front and back and a brown middle. What does that mean??
@PattyPOOH3 i also saw my first wooly worm in lower Michigan on saturday, and it was a big fat one with very thick fur, and same coloring as yours…. this better mean at least average snowfall, and temps that allow it to stick around…..
I’m from south western Pa, and I believe that your worm would mean harsh, mild, harsh…. Fatherfrost knows all the folklore
Black, brown and black here too. Supposedly means that winter will start cold, be mild in the middle, and end cold.
I was close!!! LOL
Our first wooly was all white, the second all black and we saw a third one at the beginning of the week and it was dark sable. Now THAT is a new one for me.
Yup in some spots got over one foot of snow out there
I still havent seen one in central Mo. what’s that mean? no winter, again???
I live in Broken Arrow, OK and I just saw a wooly worm on my front porch!
