Current temperature in my area, 31 with snow showers, some light accumulation has occured, and highs tomorrow will be in the 30s and 40s, with lows in the upper 10s possible, and lower 20s tomorrow night, freezing fog, and light snow a good bet on Saturday, and just otherwise pleasant conditions, winter has flickered on for a fleeting moment, and I will savor every moment of it.

Enjoy! They keep changing our forecast. Our front comes in Saturday night. Originally was suppose to be in the low to mid 60′s on Sunday, now they are predicting 57! with the low at 40!

As I sit here typing this, we have the fans on in the house because the temps are in the upper 60′s already and predicted to be 83 by this afternoon. Tomorrow is going to be about the same, so what a shock to the system Sunday will be.

    Sooo looking forward to it.

Enjoy the snow! Its supposed to be in the 80′s here today (Winchester, VA) and then it starts getting in the 40′s thru 60′s until tuesday. Last year our first snow fell the weekend before Halloween, but it was pretty much gone by Halloween day.

  4. Leos_kitten says:

Yay congrats on the snow…..pictures please

It’s only 57 here(Mcalester,ok) and is expected to go down in the 30′s-40′s this weekend.

Cool! I hope it snows soon in western NY soon.

Congrats Sapporo1!  Like most that has posted thus far I too should see much cooler tems on Sunday.  I’m in Rich. VA.  Jessica D. has the leaves start to change yet?  I’ll be that way next Friday headed for Charles Town, WV :)

Awesome! Hope your enjoying it! And upper teens….wow! I think you’ll see some good accumulations with this system and this winter. I’m watching TWC right now and flurries are falling as far south as Kansas. There’s nothing sure with temperatures here this weekend. Temperatures are warm in the 80′s today. Dare I say this, but I think it will be the warmest day here until Spring. This weekend will be significantly colder, with lows possibly dipping in thee upper 30′s and highs in the upper 50′s-low 60′s.

Awsome sapporo1, enjoy it!!!  Here in southern TN, they’re saying we could see frost on Monday morning with temps only getting up into the low 50′s.  Thats pretty early for us to see frost, but hopefully its a good sign of a cold winter ahead!!

  9. sapporo1 says:

Deadly freezing fog is now occuring here in my area, and it has already left athin coat of ice all over everything, if this continues all night, especially with temps expected to be in the mid 20s tonight, it could create a potentially deadly scenario, as freezing fog and drizzle can’t be seen well with the naked eye, and especially can’t be seen on the roads when it is cloudy, which catches many complacent motorists off guard, and this is the kind of weather that can spawn many big wrecks in it’s path.
and to create even more danger, later tonight, we are anticipating some light snow to fall on top of that ice, and that can spell a recipe for disaster, so watch out anyone driving along I-25 in Colorado, especially over Monument hill, and all bridges and overpasses.

  10. TheMaineMan says:

Glad to hear about your snow… too bad that there is freezing fog to go with it. We get freezing fog here sometimes, and you are correct, it is very deadly because it makes the roads very slick and people can’t even see it. It can be worse than black ice.

Is your average first snowfall typically in early October?

  11. sapporo1 says:

Yeah, it is typically in early-mid October, however it is fairly unusual for nighttime lows to end up
as cold as they have the last few nights (mid 20s) and tonight, if it clears out after this next round of snow showers, they are saying that it will not be uncommon for it to drop into the teens, whichis pretty unusual for October, that is more common in November.

  12. sapporo1 says:

By the way, we indeed did get a light layer of snow on top of the frozen drizzle storm we had for most of the night, however, temps warmed up a little as it all changed into a light snow shower, so the ice melted, leaving little more than the leftover snow accumulation. so roads were not so bad this morning

  13. Jessica D. says:

@Snowlover- They are starting to change but its going very slowly in my opinion. Lol but the faster they change, the faster they fall off the trees. I just wanna see the beautiful colors that Mother Nature has for us soon!

  14. KatD-Mo. says:

sure would be nice if that snow was shared. you may keep the icy road mess.
this cold front apeers to be what our fall colors needed.   I was afraid that the drought would kill the colors like it did many trees.  we lost many old trees this year.
